Welcome to THRIVE Lifeline, where Thriving Harnesses Respect, Inclusion, and Vested Empathy!
We are honored to have you volunteer with us as we support the mental health and wellbeing of individuals with underrepresented identities.
As a volunteer, your work is vital to providing safe, confidential, and judgement-free support to individuals who reach out during times of crisis, often including life-saving work.
Due to the level and type of work that we do, we want to take a brief moment to describe ourselves, and to let you know what you can expect from this application process.
Who are we?
THRIVE Lifeline is a non-profit organization, providing around-the-clock support of individuals via anonymous text messaging. Our crisis responders are trained to support people navigating concerns ranging from identity and orientation to academic or job barriers, to mental health needs such as depression, anxiety, or suicide. Our crisis responders are all individuals with marginalized identities who have STEM backgrounds. We are passionate about advocating for better mental health, especially for underrepresented individuals in STEM educational and professional spaces, but our line is free to all who are in need.
If you would like to communicate with us directly, please email: email@example.com.
Who are you?
You are passionate and caring. You are willing to learn and you have strong listening skills. You are supportive of individuals with different identities and backgrounds to your own. You do not want to see people struggling alone or without resources. Your dedication to your community is admirable and you are ready to take that to new levels. If this sounds like you, then you belong at THRIVE!
In this application, you may expect to learn about our volunteer requirements, and to share your personal information, your motivation for volunteering, your volunteer availability, your experiences, and your references. Please expect to take 20 - 30 minutes to complete this application.
