Position: KidPOWER Group Leader
ABOUT KIDPOWER:
»KidPOWER is a comprehensive after-school tutoring & mentoring program for 1st-5th graders impacted by poverty.
»Our goal is to empower children to make positive life choices by providing encouraging role models and mentors, homework help and tutoring, opportunities to give back to the community through service learning projects, resources to create and achieve goals, and tools to build character.
HOURS & PAY:
»Monday 3:00-6:30, Tuesday-Thursday 3:30-6:30
»Total:12.5 hours/week
»Must be available all days & hours
»Starting at $12/hour
POSITION DESCRIPTION & EXPECTATIONS:
- Perform all responsibilities in accordance with the KidPOWER Staff Handbook
- Primary responsibility for leading a group of 4-8 KidPOWER students (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade)
- Consistently maintain a structured, respectful, and well-controlled environment
- Assist students with homework
- Tutor students in math, reading, and writing
- Promote positive character traits
- Teach and employ healthy conflict resolution tools
- Fully participate in all daily activities (including gym time)
- Effectively manage classroom volunteers
- Accurately and effectively collect, transmit, and manage student data
- Work the entire school year (September-April). Programming is scheduled around the TNU calendar, so you will not be asked to work over breaks.
- Arrive on time, ready to work, and work the entire shift
- Fully participate in all KidPOWER-related CrossBRIDGE events
- Model healthy Christ-like behavior and ethics
- Model healthy boundaries
- Model honest, assertive, and healthy communication
- Model respect authority
- Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with the KidPOWER program goals and directives assigned by organizational leadership.
