As a federally funded TRIO program, Student Support Services is required to provide documentation of a student’s eligibility for the program to the U.S. Department of Education and implement the TRIO regulations that state two-thirds of the students served must meet federal low-income guidelines.

Please use information from Form 1040 for the most recent tax year. Please note: eligibility is based upon TAXABLE income only, NOT Adjusted Gross or Total Income. Taxable Income can be found on LINE 15 of your tax return (Form 1040).
Verification requirements for TRIO vary depending on whether students are independent or dependent. A list of federal criteria for independent student status is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

You are considered an independent student if any of the following pertain to you: you are age 24 or older, married or emancipated; have children; served in the military; you were not required to include parental income when filling out the FAFSA. If you are in this category, please choose "Independent Student" below. Parent/Guardian information is not needed to complete this form.

You are considered a dependent student under the following: you are younger than age 24, unmarried or not emancipated; you were required to include parental income when filling out the FAFSA.
