This is the first BIG step. This is when you begin to write your chapters as indicated above.
As this is a story that must be written by you, and for you (and perhaps for those close to you), I suggest you spend as much time as you feel you need to do this, using a traditional pen and paper or electronic means as you prefer.
When you write, you should not necessarily worry about perfect spelling and grammar (as mentioned in previous modules), but it is important to try and return to the moment you are writing about in as much detail as possible.
You might do this be recalling the sights and smells associated with it, as well as what you were doing, the people you were with, and what you recall thinking and feeling then — along with what you think and feel about the situation now.
The reason for doing this is to reveal transition assets and liabilities to you, which we can use in later modules. Assets might be people who have supported you in the past (and can do so now), along with activities you enjoyed being involved in and are good at (personal, or ‘self’ assets and strengths).
Liabilities might be situations or activities that you consider low points, which might suggest future directions you might not wish to pursue. Other liabilities might be health issues that you need to consider dealing with or at least accommodating as you move forward (such as in my story).
This, as mentioned, is a big step. It is therefore a convenient point to end this module.
When you have competed a first draft of your transition story, come back to Module 4, where we will begin some transition planning based on your story thus far.
Don’t worry about your story being perfect at this stage: stories are there to be retold. Yours can, and will be retold, as your life continues to unfold.
Just as with previous modules, please ensure you download and save your completed PDF (by pressing 'Preview PDF' below), or email it to yourself after pressing 'Submit' below and then confirming you are not a 'robot' and then clicking 'Submit Form'. You will need to have what you have written to hand in completing Step 5, above.
I wish you all the best for your storying before seeing you for Module 4!
