7. Pre-Anesthetic blood testing
Like you, our greatest concern is the well-being of your dog. If your dog is to be anesthetized, rest assured that advances in anesthesia and monitoring have made routine procedures relatively safe with a low rate of complications. However, occasional problems can arise due to pre-existing conditions which are not evident during our routine pre-anesthetic physical exams. Anemia, infections, clotting abnormalities, liver and kidney disease can all increase your pet’s anesthetic risk. To reduce the risk of these problems, we highly recommend all pets be screened prior to anesthesia by means of the following laboratory tests – complete blood count and mini chemistry panel. These tests can be performed at Shelton Vet Care the morning of the procedure. Please indicate your preference below.
