The Lee County Farm Bureau Foundation will be awarding scholarships, valued at up to $2,500, to students enrolled in their 3rd or 4th years of the professional DVM curriculum at an accredited college of veterinary medicine, specializing in Large/Food Animals. Students have been accepted and completed at least their 2nd year of veterinary school are eligible to apply. The number of scholarships awarded will be determined by the number of qualified applicants and upon the availability of funds. Applicants must be members of the Lee County Farm Bureau in good standing. Applicants may not have been a previous recipient of the LCFB Foundation Veterinary Scholarship.
To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must:
- Be entering their 3rd or 4th year in veterinary school, specializing in Large/Food Animals, in the fall
- Be a resident of Lee County OR
Be a Lee County Farm Bureau member in good standing or dependent of a Lee County Farm Bureau member in good standing, as defined in the bylaws of the Lee County Farm Bureau
- Be enrolled at a post-secondary school in a field of study for a career connected to agriculture.
- Exhibit potential for successful completion of course of study
- May not have been a previous recipient of the LCFB Foundation Veterinary Scholarship
The selection for the scholarship(s) are according to criteria such as:
- Academic Achievement
- Finanical Need
- Evidence of self-help. How is the student contributing financially to his/her education?
- Character and Personality
- Maturity
- Industrousness and Motivation
- Intellectual Interest
- Moral Character
- Demonstrated Leadership
Special consideration will be given to applicants intending to return to Northern Illinois to practice.
