This form is the initial point of contact to the Managing Editor who will handle your correction.
  • When filling out this form, the steps you should have already taken are as follows:

    • You should have contacted your editor with the issue that requires correcting
      • Your editor will determine if it warrants a correction or if it is an error that can be fixed without one
    • (If applicable) You should have contacted your source(s) and apologized for the error
    • You should have assembled documentation on the following questions:
      • What the correction is?
      • Why it occurred?
      • Who it involves?
      • Where (if applicable) in the process did the correction occur?
      • How it could have been prevented?

You will use the documentation above to fill out this form.

    • You should have scheduled a meeting with Emmy via Calendly

Once you have done the above, the corrections process will continue from here as follows:

    • A meeting will occur between your editor and the managing editor.
      • We will discuss all of the aforementioned parameters of the issue
    • The managing editor will schedule a meeting with you before your next story is set to be published
      • If warranted, your editor, the managing editor and you will meet.
    • The managing editor will draft (if time permits) a correction with you and the writer will assist the ME in posting it to the website
    • A staff-wide correction email will be sent, including your correction
      • This email will NOT identify you, your story or highlight your mistake as punitive. This is a tool for us to learn.
