Step four of the GROW coaching model is using willpower to put in the effort to make new neural connections in the brain when creating new habits associated with the training outcomes. For example, conflict can arise in any situation at work, or are disappointed about a decision, or we feel left out leading to the production of emotions that will make you feel very uncomfortable. Giving feedback to others can also take us outside our comfort zone and this can lead to avoidance. Willpower helps us to take the journey to operate outside what feels familiar and safe. This requires effort to make new habits, which creates our new leadership behaviours.
