  • Have you ever been arrested or convicted of a felony or other crime, been the subject of an investigation by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS/CPS) or similar agency in another state, or have you or a family member ever received services from Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center as a client?

  • Volunteer Agreement and Understanding

I have accurately completed this application. I understand that the information I have provided will be used to assign me to tasks best suited for my abilities and experience. I also understand that this application is not a contract between the WCCAC and me, and either the WCCAC or I can terminate my volunteer services at any time.

I understand that I must provide three references to the WCCAC. I give the WCCAC permission to contact my references to obtain information regarding my suitability to work with children and families.

I agree to attend the required orientation and/or training necessary for being a volunteer at Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center. I understand that a criminal history check from the Texas Department of Public Safety and a Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect check will be completed. This is done to ensure that volunteers have not been convicted of an offense that would be potentially detrimental to the WCCAC.

I further understand that the inclusion of any false information or the omission of any requested information may be cause for my immediate dismissal from volunteer placement at the WCCAC.

I agree to immediately inform the Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center if this information changes any time during my involvement with the Center.

    Volunteer Code of Ethics

    1. Volunteers providing client services shall maintain the client’s interest as their primary responsibility and will maintain the highest personal and professional standards.

    2. Volunteers will portray a positive role model by maintaining an attitude of respect, loyalty, patience, integrity, courtesy, tact, and maturity.

    3. Volunteers should respect the privacy of clients and maintain confidentiality at all times regarding information obtained while providing services. Volunteers will not reveal a name or any other identifying information about any client or a case to the outside public.

    4. Client confidentiality must be maintained throughout the workplace. Client information will not be discussed in the front office or in the hallway of any general work area.

    5. Volunteers may not discriminate against clients or staff on the basis of gender, race, age, ethnicity, religion, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation or source of income.

    6. Volunteers shall avoid dual relationships with clients, unless pre-approved by the WCCAC. Volunteers shall not conduct any relationship with the client other than that assigned by WCCAC.

    7. Volunteers will clearly distinguish between their personal views and the official positions adopted by WCCAC when communicating public statements to others.

    8. Volunteers will report any conflict of interest to appropriate agency authority that may prevent them from providing competent services to a client, or be impartial in the treatment of any client.

    9. Volunteers shall not use drugs, alcohol, or profanity while volunteering for WCCAC. Tobacco can be used outside, in the rear of the building.

    10. Texas State Law requires that all citizens report any suspected abuse or neglect of a child to the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services via their statewide 1-800-252-5400 hotline or to the local law enforcement agency.

    11. Volunteers recognize their boundaries of competence and provide only those services, and use only those techniques, for which they are qualified by approved training experiences.

    12. Volunteers should be mindful of any gifts given to them by clients. Any gift offered should not exceed an excessive nominal value, and if so, should be politely declined.

I understand that any violation of this code may be grounds for removal as a volunteer from the WCCAC.
