Saratoga Veterinary Hospital, PC
Boarding Release Form
What should I bring for boarding?
Leash and Collar: At all times we require that any animal entering/exiting the building be restrained; either by leash and collar or carrier. Upon arrival to the kennel all leashes and collars will be removed to be taken home by you. We supply slip leashes for all boarding dogs, and all dogs are walked in a fenced in yard.
Food: If you choose to bring your own food please ensure that all containers and/or bags are labeled clearly and that your pet will have enough food for their entire stay. If you choose not to bring your own food we do offer highest quality food to all visiting dogs and cats at no additional cost.
Treats: Why not treat them when they are so good? Please label any treat pouches/containers.
Toys: Feel free to bring 1 or 2 toys that are labeled with your pets’ name.
Bedding: We provide all pets with clean fresh bedding at all times during their stay, so please refrain from bringing any bedding. We have a variety of animal equipment, including a wide range of blankets, bedding, and elevated beds.
Dishes: Please do not bring any dishes. We provide stainless steel dishes for all boarding pets.
Medication: Please bring with you any medications that your pets are currently on. We require that all medications be clearly labeled and brought in their original bottle with the most current dosage instructions written on the bottle. There will be a fee per administration.
Labeling: Every effort will be made to return all of your pets’ belongings; however we cannot guarantee their safe return. Please help us by labeling everything clearly. Preferably with a permanent marker.
Veterinary Care Policy: One of the advantages of boarding your pet at a veterinary hospital is that veterinary attention is readily available should the need arise. If your pet is in need of unforeseen veterinary care, we will call all emergency number(s) listed regarding your pet’s symptoms and treatment options. If you are unreachable and treatment is deemed necessary, appropriate veterinary care will be given by the Saratoga Veterinary Hospital and any expense incurred will be the responsibility of the owner. Unless noted by the owner, any evaluation requested by the owner for a specific problem, will be understood as consent to treat.
Vaccination Policy: All animals must be current on all vaccinations: For dogs this includes Kennel Cough/Bordetella (to be given every 6 months), Rabies, Distemper, and Parvo. Proof of a yearly heartworm check and fecal sample, with a negative result, for dogs is also required. Current Feline Distemper and Rabies vaccinations are required for cats. Because our facility is affiliated with the Saratoga Veterinary Hospital we are held to a higher standard of care than a non-veterinary associated facility. Therefore, an initial complimentary physical, to be completed by one of our Veterinarians, is required for your pet to stay with us. If your pet requires any treatments/vaccines or testing in subsequent years, you will be charged for a physical exam. We do advise that all pets be updated on their vaccinations at least 10 days prior to their stay with us.
Payment/Deposit Policy: Payment in full is expected at pickup. Scheduled boarding for over 14 days, requires a 50% deposit at time of drop off. Boarding with unknown length of stay requires a minimum 2 week deposit. Payment on account is expected every 2 weeks. Any account that accrues over a 3 week balance, will be considered in default. Accounts in default may have their pets, that are boarding with us, deemed abandoned and brought to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter. Saratoga Veterinary Hospital, PC is not responsible for any actions of the shelter.
Important Reminders:
Most pets will obtain an “odor” while boarding. If you choose for your dog not to have a bath, you are acknowledging and accepting that your dog will not be as clean as when they were admitted. If you would like your dog to have a bath before departure, there will be an additional cost. You can also opt for a brush-out after your dogs’ bath.
If fleas are found on your pet we will administer a product called Capstar, which will kill all live fleas on your pet, as well as give your pet a bath and apply Frontline. This is for your pets benefit as well as to benefit the other boarding animals and will incur an additional fee.
Boarding is charged by the night. If your pet stays with us overnight, you will be charged for one (1) day of boarding. If your pet is dropped off and picked up in the same day, you will be charged for Daycare. Please remember to not pick-up your pet until after 11:00 AM, unless you have scheduled an earlier pick up.
If pets are boarding in the same kennel we reserve the right to separate if problems arise.
During Holidays and School vacations, there is an additional "Peak Season" fee added to all boarding charges. If you are not sure if this applies to your pets stay, please ask when making reservations.
