Thank you for your interest in becoming a foster parent for a cat or kitten(s) in need. Foster parents are the lifeblood of our program. They are a vital piece in getting cats and kittens off the streets and out of other dangerous situations, getting them healthy and providing them with love and safety so the are happy, trusting kitties when adoption time comes.
Things that you would need to be able to do as a foster parent is:
- Keep your foster cat or kitten(s) indoors at all times.
- Quaratine your foster to one room as instructed by foster coordinator. This could require up to a 14 day quarantine.
- Understand that your own pets should be kept away from new fosters for at least 10-14 days as new fosters can pose risks of parasites, ringworm or viruses that could be transferred to your pets with direct contact. You can confirm your cats are current on their FVRCP and FeLv vaccines and understand that you are assuming all risks to your pets should they not be updated and become ill from contact with a foster.
- Have a flexible schedule in the event cat/kitten gets sick and need medical treatment or to pick up medications. Treatments, doctors and medications are primarily in Jupiter, FL.
- Keep your foster cat or kitten(s) safe from your own pets and your pets safe from fosters.
- Communicate what supplies you will need us to supply to care for kitty before committing to a foster plea. This is to ensure we have the supplies on hand to send along with kitty at pick up. If we are short on any supplies, we may need to choose a foster who can assist with whatever supply we may be lacking at that moment.
