Extraction
Your tooth is recommended to be extracted because it is deemed irreparable, or a rootcanal to preserve the tooth was not a favourable option for you. This procedure involves freezing the area and removing a small portion of bone around the tooth if necessary to allow for a smoother procedure. Some discomfort afterwards is normal and can last a few days, this is a minor surgical procedure.
Possible outcomes:
- The tooth may fracture into small pieces which will be located by taking an x-ray and then removed.
- Other fillings/teeth may fracture due to procedure.
- The nerve may be dislodged where paralysis of the area may be temporary or permanent.
- An abscess may be lodged in the area.
- You may experience dry socket if post op instructions are not followed.
Risks of treatment:
Bone Fracture
Jaw fracture(rare)
Upper posterior teeth. Oro-antral communication. You may require an additional procedure.
**Please inform us if you are on any blood thinners or suffer from cardiac conditions.**
