Priestley Music Audition Upload 2021

Please upload a video of you performing a song. Ideally you will perform with a backing track but this is not compulsory.

Backing tracks for a variety of instruments are widely available on YouTube, Spotify and the Karaoke-Version website.

We only need to see 1 song. Try to make your video at least 1 minute long and ideally no longer than 3:30 or 4:00 minutes.

You do not need to upload videos of scales or technical excercises at this time.

There are no set limits on song choices however we may ask you to submit a different song if we feel that your song choice is not suitable. Please speak to your private tutors or school teachers if possible to discuss appropriate song choices.

Essentially we just need to see an example of you performing so that we can check that you will be able to cope with the type of content and difficulty level of performance material on our courses.

If you are not a performer, you do not need to upload a file. Some of our applicants for Music Production pathways do not play an instrument.

You can also upload an example of any songs you have written or produced using the file browser or link box below. It is important that we see and hear you perform if you are applying for A level Music or a Pathway involving Music Performance.

Upload a video from your computer, tablet or mobile device

Large videos can take a while to upload on some wifi connections. You may also want to consider the option below where you can upload your videos to a sharing service such as YouTube and then post the links so that we can view.

Alternatively, you can provide a link to a web-page or file sharing service where we can view your video. Please ensure you have read and followed the guidance for videos on Virtual Priestley

You can use services such as dropbox, google drive or icloud share youtube or vimeo etc. Please ensure that you have set the file sharing permissions so that anyone with the link will be able to view the files. Please also consider whether you want to protect your privacy and avoid making your videos visible to anyone on the internet or search engines. On Youtube you can do this by setting the video sharing settings to "unlisted"

Which Music courses/pathways DO YOU CURRENTLY THINK YOU WILL CHOOSE? Remember that most students study up to 4 blocks on average at Priestley so it's possible to combine Music Pathways with each other as well combining with other subjects across college. MOST STUDENTS ONLY PICK ONE OF THESE OPTIONS. IN MOST CASES WE ADVISE AGAINST CHOOSING A Level Music AND Vocational options in Music. PLEASE READ THE OPTIONS CAREFULLY.
