As a TRiO participant we ask that you make a commitment to yourself and the TRiO program so you may fully benefit from the service TRiO has to offer. Students who have participated in the TRiO SSS program are 3 times more likely to graduate with a degree. Our staff will work closely with you to provide comprehensive services.
As a participant you will be responsible for the following (please check the box next to each item): *

I accept responsibility for my own academic success. Attend all scheduled appointments or notify SSS if you need to reschedule. I will utilize tutorial services as needed or if I am referred by my SSS advisor Meet with my advisor once a month during the first semester and twice per semester after the probationary and remaining semesters including going over my academic progress reports. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) each year. Work with my advisor to develop,implement, and update a Graduation Action Plan (GAP) each semester to meet my post-secondary education goals. I agree to attend two (2) workshops, cultural events or transfer tours each semester. All SSS participants will meet with a TRiO advisor or faculty or OJC advisor to register for classes or change class schedule including withdrawing or dropping any courses. Setup an account with College in Colorado to complete the Money 101 modules. Complete an evaluation of the SSS program each year and participate in an exit interview when you leave OJC. I agree to keep my grades at a 2.0 or above each semester. Inform SSS with any changes to your address, phone number, and email address. Return calculator, textbook, or any other checked out TRiO item within the specified time frame.

To graduate in 4 semesters (2 years) I need to take 15 credits each semester of non-remedial classes. Only 60 credits transfer to a 4 year school –the school will choose which classes/credits transfer, but some schools will work with the student to include necessary classes. Only 90 credit hours are paid by financial aid –150% of degree or 150% of 60 credit hours; 12 semester limit on Pell Grant; COF cuts off at 145 credit hours max.
Transfer Vs. Non-Transfer Degrees:

AA (Associate of Arts) or AS (Associate of Science) degrees are transferrable degrees. These degrees will more than likely allow you to transfer over at a junior status (some exceptions apply).

AGS (Associate of General Studies) degree – only core classes will transfer.

AAS (Associate of Applied Science) – this degree will be examined course by course at the university and it is possible for you to transfer below junior status with this degree.

Financial Aid:

A student can be placed on financial aid probation and/or suspension if they receive any of the following:

D/F – does not count as a passing grade, lowers GPA, counts as attempted hours which use financial aid dollars.

W – does not count as a passing grade, counts as attempted hours which use financial aid dollars. The “W” cannot be removed from your transcript.
