  • I,* (lead volunteer), agree to adopt the * (trail name) as a member of * (volunteer group name) for a full calendar year.

  • By signing the Freshwater Land Trust Red Rock Adopt-a-Trail Service Agreement, I accept the following duties of a trail-adopter and commit to assist the Freshwater Land Trust in achieving its goal of providing high quality trails throughout Jefferson County, Alabama. I understand that the expectations and requirements of the Adopt-a-Trail program are as follows:

    • Review and adhere to the work guidelines and safety suggestions outlined in the Freshwater Land Trust Adopt-a-Trail Handbook prior to the first service day, and refer to these as needed thereafter,

    • Collect the trail maintenance starter kit (if needed) containing gloves and trash bags from the Freshwater Land Trust,

    • Perform at least two hours of service on your adopted trail segment every other month for a period of at least one year, for a total of 12 hours at a minimum,

    • Only conduct approved service opportunities of litter-pick up and collection, raking and sweeping of trails, removal of weeds and invasive plants, and planting of native vegetation,

    • Conduct advanced tasks such as larger-scale beautification or removal projects (including use of chemicals), posting signage, and Scout projects ONLY after pre-approval from Freshwater Land Trust,

    • Submit the Service Report Form after every completed service, ideally no later than one week after completed service date,

    • Be respectful and cautious of pedestrians, cyclists, and other trail users while volunteering on your trail segment,

    • Act as an ambassador of the Red Rock Trail System®.

  • Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the removal from the Adopt-a-Trail program.
  • Furthermore, I, *fully understand and agree that the work to be performed in the Freshwater Land Trust Adopt-A-Trail program carries the possibility of accidental physical injury. For and in consideration of participating in this program, the undersigned agrees to assume the risk of injury (including death) and further agrees to release, defend, indemnify and hold harmless the FRESHWATER LAND TRUST, a nonprofit Alabama corporation ("Land Trust") and its successors, assigns, directors, officers, employees, and agents, from any and all liability (including attorneys fees and other legal costs) for such injuries (including death), and/or property damages suffered or incurred by the undersigned arising out of or resulting from participating in the Adopt-A-Trail program, the negligence or unintentional acts of the Land Trust, or the actions of the undersigned, or the actions of third parties at the program worksites.
