The Share a Smile, People Helping People Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce its 2024 Scholarship Application is open. Share a Smile, PHP is a nonprofit corporation established in South Carolina. This organization is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational or scientific purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The general purpose of Share a Smile, PHP is to positively impact the lives of women, children and their families to overcome health disparities, poverty and other hardships through Health and Wellness, Educational Advancement, Compassionate Leadership and Community Uplift.
The scholarship is open to both males and females.
Who is eligible?
- Graduating high school senior enrolled in a South Carolina High School.
- Non-traditional adult student living in Richland or Lexington County going to college for the first time or returning to college to complete a first-time degree program that was interrupted.
All applications will be evaluated based on the following:
- Graduating High School Seniors:
- 3.0 Grade Point Average (Cumulative): Submit official high school transcript
- Optional-950 SAT or 20 ACT Score or higher: Submit official score report from College Board or ACT
- List of honors, awards, community service, clubs, and organizations
- Essay (minimum 250 words): What motivated or encouraged you to pursue a career in the health profession?
- One letter of recommendation (teacher, employer, church, community person, etc.)
- Submit a wallet size picture (for publication use only)
- Non-Traditional Student:
- Must submit proof of high school diploma or GED
- Demonstrate/provide proof of financial need (independent income must not exceed $36,000)
- Must be 25 years of age or older
- Essay (minimum 250 words): What has motivated you to go back or return to college at this point in life?
- Two letters of recommendation (current or former employer, community person, church, etc.)
- Submit a wallet size photo (for publication use only)
All scholarship awards will be dispersed directly to the accredited University/College (two or four year) the recipient will attend in the fall. The foundation reserves the right to withhold scholarships if false or misleading information is submitted.
