CYCLE Kids pioneered bike education in schools in 2004. The CYCLE Kids program, taught through elementary school PE classes, harnesses the excitement of riding a bike to put children on a path to success.
As children learn how to ride bikes and become more skilled, they develop confidence and independence, realize exercise can be fun, and that healthy nutrition choices can be easy. A CYCLE Kids program helps children with emotional development as well as academic achievement.
As one 'CYCLE Kid' said, "When you feel confident and proud, you can do anything!"
A Program Grant will cover the cost of implementing a CYCLE Kids program in a New York City elementary school. Schools will receive bikes, helmets, teacher curriculum and training, and student kits for each student participating in the program. The value of this grant is $20,000.
