The Merced County Office of Education strives to celebrate the accomplishments of its students by sharing information with the community. To do this, we may submit press releases to local media (such as newspapers, television, and online news sites) that include student names, student work, student photographs, and video and/or voice recordings. In addition, we may choose to publish and/or display this information on the MCOE’s website(s) and various social media channels. While the intent of this practice is to be informative and celebratory, we recognize that concerns may arise regarding a student’s right to privacy.
The news media may elect to cover all or part of this event which can include photos, video or text which identifies and may quote the child/student. The news coverage may appear in newspapers, newsletters, on television, radio, the Web or other publicly-circulated communications. State law permits media access to student competitions and events and often highlights the many wonderful students we have in MCOE programs.
If you agree to allow MCOE and the news media to publish and/or display such information about your student for noncommercial purposes and without cost, no action is required.
If you DO NOT grant permission for MCOE or the news media to release your child’s name, photograph, schoolwork, and/or video or voice recording in the manner stated above, you must complete, sign and return this Media Release Non-Consent form to the Merced County Office of Education Events Office. Please note that a signed Media Release Non-Consent Form is considered valid for all MCOE Events in the 2020-2021 school year.
By signing and returning this form, I formally state that I DO NOT grant permission to the Merced County Office of Education or the news media to release my child’s name, photograph, audio and/or video recording, or displays of work to the media; to publish or display information about my child’s accomplishments or achievements on the County’s website(s) or various social media channels.
