Currently UIL and Katy ISD are moving forward with Summer Band activities. Under UIL/KISD rules, Summer Band participation is currently optional. That being said, we are still planning to produce a marching show for the 2020 season. We need to know who plans to participate in our Summer Band rehearsal so we can prepare. Note: all KISD HS band students will be allowed to participate in the marching activity per UIL rules regardless of decision of in-person vs virtual learning. If you choose remote learning you must be enrolled in the Katy ISD Virtual academy (KVA) in order to participate in the CRHS Marching Band. KVA students are not required to attend after school practices. After school practices or learning opportunities for KVA students are optional.
Requirements for Summer Band Attendance
Excellent! We look forward to seeing you. In electing to attend Summer Band activities you will be expected adhere to COVID-related health and safety guidance. These include, but are not limited to, health pre-screens, check in/out procedures, mask policies, social distancing and other mandates as directed by Katy ISD and TEA. These will be detailed to you in full prior to Summer Band start and violation of these could result in immediate dismissal from band for the day. If you are unwilling to adhere to these policies, please consider removing yourself from Summer Band participation.
As you are electing to participate in Summer Band, please note that the members demonstrating high attendance have a much greater chance of securing a marching spot. Marching spots are still contingent on physical and musical ability to perform.
