We believe donor stories are a wonderful way to bring to life the theories and practices of effective philanthropy which is why you will find so many stories sprinkled throughout our text.
Do you have a story or perspective to share? We invite you to compose your donor story (of ~200-500 words) on one of the following topics:
-
Finding Your Focus
-
Involving Family
-
Learning About Philanthropy With and From Others
-
Giving Vehicles
-
Understanding Nonprofit Problems, Their Causes, and Approaches to Solutions
-
Theory of Change, Monitoring, and Evaluation: Understanding an Organization’s Activities, Outcomes, and Impact
-
Finding Effective Organizations
-
Due Diligence: Vetting and Evaluating Organizations
-
Engaging Organizations and Developing Relationships With Their Leadership
-
Making Gifts
-
Funding with Others: Collaboration and Pooled Funding
-
Socially Motivated Investing
And if you have a donor story that doesn’t necessarily fit one of these topics, please send it along anyway, and we’ll try to find a place for it.
We will review all submissions and may work with you to provide feedback or propose a few edits to the piece. If accepted, we will post the story in a new section under the relevant chapter on our website titled “Donor Perspectives.”
