1. First check to make sure your rivets are long enough. You don't need much coming out the other end. You only need about 1/8 of an inch or 2-3 mm for the rivet to set properly. Most Nylon collars should work with 6 mm rivets. Most BioThane and leather rivets should use about 7-8 mm rivet post length (depending on thickness).
2. Check the holes in the nameplate to make sure the rivet cap fits in the hole. If the hole is too small, you will need to enlarge it. PetPromart enlarges the holes before sending the nameplates.
3. Place the nameplate on the collar in the location you would like to install it.
4. Mark the nameplate rivet hole positions.
5. Punch holes in the collar where you made the nameplate hole marks with a hammer and punch, leather punch or drill. Use a durable surface during installation to prevent damage.
6. For nylon collars, burn the edges of the holes to remove frayed strands.
7. Push the rivet posts through the holes in the collar from the backside of the collar. 
8. Then push the rivet posts through your rivet-on nameplate and attach the provided rivet caps. Cap on front side of nameplate.
9. Tap the rivet caps onto the rivet posts with a hammer until the caps flatten.
10. You can use the special rivet tool to prevent caps from flattening for a better appearance.
