This form is for currently enrolled students who (a) have a specific medical reason that prohibits them being able to safely wear masks while attending a live, in-person class meeting on either the Atlanta or Chattanooga campuses for Richmont Graduate University, or (b) must request an extended temporary period of Virtual Attendance for COVID-19-related circumstances.
Note: "Virtual Attendance" is NOT the same as taking a class that is fully online. Virtual attendance allows a student to attend an on-campus class meeting via Zoom in real-time.
The medical diagnosis or medical difficulty that prevents a student from safely wearing a mask during a class meeting must be able to be documented by a medical doctor (M.D.). The documentation must be dated within one (1) year of date of submission and reference wearing a face mask. This virtual attendance option is only in place as long as the university requires masks.
The COVID-19-related circumstance (including recovery from long-term COVID) must be documented by a medical doctor with the following specific information:
- M.D. states specific reason why student has medical necessity to not come to campus and why student must attend class (and internship) virtually for a temporary period.
- M.D. states temporary time period with "end-date" to either return to campus or re-evaluate based on updated prognosis (temporary period should be 8-12 weeks maximum with option to reevaluate).
Once approved, this form is for students requesting to transition to virtual course attendance for all of their classes and student requirements (i.e., internship) for the ENTIRE current semester, or the remainder of the semester if you are submitting after classes have begun. Temporary requests may be reviewed in extreme circumstances, but the length of time must be determined by an M.D. and clearly stated in the formal letter of recommendation.
