- Submit your application.
- You will be contacted within 2 to 3 business days via your Mid Mich Email or the phone number you provide with a decision or a request for additional information. A need for additional information may delay a decision to award funding, so it is in your best interest to provide as much documentation and information as possible in your initial application.
- Awards are issued directly to the student based on their selected refund process in Self-Service. We encourage you to set up direct deposit. Visit midmich.edu/banking to add your account information in Self-Service. If direct deposit is not set up, a check is mailed to the address on file. Visit Self-Service to review your profile and verify your contact information.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for assistance, students must
- Have experienced a recent, unexpected financial hardship resulting from an emergency, accident, or other unforeseen event.
- Be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking Mid Michigan College student, enrolled at least half-time (6+ credit hours) during fall, winter, or summer semesters.
- Have a current FAFSA on file.
- Be in good academic standing, meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- Have exhausted all other available financial aid resources.
- Provide documentation supporting the emergency and related expenses.
What types of emergencies can be funded? (Allowable Expenses)
Below is a non-exhaustive list of expenses that may be considered. Documentation is required.
- Essential utilities.
- Emergency car repairs or transportation needs, excluding routine maintenance and vehicle purchases.
- Limited to $300.
- Students may receive this support only once.
- School-related expenses, excluding a computer, textbooks, and courseware.
- Replacement of essential belongings due to theft, fire, flood, or natural disaster.
- Safety-related costs, such as a lock change or securing safe housing.
- Emergency temporary lodging to avoid homelessness or unsafe living conditions.
- Temporary food insecurity.
- Emergency medical treatment, medication, or prescriptions that are not covered by insurance.
- Emergency travel expenses to return home after the sudden death or emergency of an immediate family member.
What types of emergencies cannot be funded? (Non-Allowable Expenses)
Below is a non-exhaustive list of expenses that will not be considered.
- Expenses resulting from overspending or a lack of budgeting.
- Outstanding debt, including credit cards, past-due fees, or existing balances owed to the College.
- Anticipated academic or living expenses, including tuition, fees, textbooks, rent, or insurance.
- Penalties, fines, tickets, or legal fees.
- Routine rent, security deposits, or monthly bills (unless tied to a documented emergency).
- Gas for personal vehicles.
- Non-essential utilities.
- Costs related to entertainment, recreation, or non-emergency travel.
- Replacement of non-essential personal items.
