  • It is a requirement of the SIA, Ofqual and SIA training Awarding Organisations that learners who take the course have a basic knowledge of the English language.

    Therefore, please take your time to ensure you complete this correctly, ‘prior’ to your course to confirm to us your ability to communicate in English.

    This assessment is made of three simple criteria,

    1. Reading

    2. Writing

    3. Speaking and Listening.

    Criteria 1&2 are tested using the form and criteria 3 is tested during the first day of your course.

    Please read the text in the section below, then answer the questions further down on this page. A minimum of 5 questions must be answered correctly to pass.

  • Writing criteria

    Writing must be easily read - letters/words should be clearly formed.

    Most words should be spelt correctly. Any misspelt words should not stop the reader from understanding what has been written.

    Majority of capital letters, full stops, question marks or exclamation marks used in the correct place.

    Correct tense used in the majority of written work.

    Demonstrate a good understanding of spoken vocabulary by answering questions with detailed answers that are on topic and relevant.
