  • If this animal has not been sterilized prior to this adoption due to age or physical condition, you agree to enter into this Sterilization agreement and agree to have the animal spayed or neutered. Proof of Sterilization must be forwarded to Fur and Tails Animal Rescue. Puppies or kittens must be spayed or neutered before 6 months of age. Other animals will be discussed.*
  • If the Animal is found to be pregnant, You agree all offspring will be transferred to Fur and Tails Animal Rescue at approximately 6 weeks of age, per veterinary direction.*
  • You agree that this animal is being adopted as a family pet and will be given extensive house privileges; i.e. sleep inside the house, be allowed freedom of the house when the family is home and will not be permanently restricted to the outside at any time.*
  • You agree to provide the Animal with fresh water, wholesome food, adequate outdoor exercise, affection and shelter.*
  • You agree that the Animal will not be used a guard animal, or for a purpose other than a companion animal, a friend to you and your family.*
  • You agree to no alterations to the animal's appearance, such as docking of ears and tails. Regular grooming is required.*
  • You agree that your ownership and financial responsibility begin when you take custody of the animal.*
  • You agree to have the animal vaccinated as recommended by your veterinarian of record.*
  • You agree if the adoption fee/ donation includes veterinary services, such as vaccinations, de-sexing or any other service-veterinary or otherwise, all appointments will be scheduled by Fur and Tails Animal Rescue at the location and time of their choice. All efforts will be made to determine a mutually agreeable time, however flexibility is limited due to the need to bring multiple animals in together to reduce costs. It is the responsibility of the adopter to arrange for drop off and pick up of their pet. Each pet must include written identification with the name of the pet (If the name is changed, BOTH names must be on the documentation). Your contact information should also be included. If you decide to use your own veterinarian all of those associated costs will be your responsibility and you will not be given a refund. Donations will be used to provide care for other animals at the rescue.*
  • Adopter agrees to provide obedience training for the Animal if recommended by Fur and Tails Animal Rescue at their cost. Proof of training must be presented to Rescue within 3 months after the adoption date for Animals 4 months and older. For pups younger than 4 months old, proof of training is required within 4 months of adoption date. Note: We agree that if the training is not complete on any Animal being returned to us, Adopter will be financially responsible for the cost to complete training.*
  • You agree that this animal is being adopted as is, without evaluation of behavioral issues, (i.e. biting, destruction, escapism, fearfulness, dominance, etc) and to follow the recommendations in resolving any issues as an effort to maintain custody of the adopted animal. Any damages (financial, physical or personal) due to behavioral issues is the sole responsibility of the Adopter.*
  • Where applicable, adopter will provide a secure fenced yard or area, with ample room for outdoor exercise. If fencing needs repair or modification to ensure the safety and well-being of the Animal, you agree to make any necessary repairs prior to allowing Animal access to the yard. You agree to maintain the security of the fencing in the future to further secure the Animal. Adopter understands that gardeners,contractors and utility workers are not responsible for the safety of the Animal, therefore the Animal must be kept indoors when workers access to the yard. NOTE: Many Animals are sensitive and scared of loud noises, and you hereby agree to keep the Animal indoors or in a safe and secure environment on holidays such as July 4th and New Years Eve.*
  • You agree that the animal will always have an identification tag with 2 current telephone numbers when outside the home.*
  • If the animal is a dog, you will walk the Animal on a leash when on public streets or in parks or other unfenced areas and will never allow the Animal to roam free unsupervised. The Animal will be walked using a collar or harness, and will not be walked with the leash attached to the Animal’s identification tag. Adopter understands that the identification tag is not a secure restraint. Also, the Animal will not be tied up unsupervised on your property or elsewhere. Adopter understands that restraining a Animal by tying it to a fixed post or wire run is unsafe and may cause theft of the Animal, unpredictable behavior and random aggression. You will not leave the Animal crated and/or otherwise confined for extended periods of time (more than 5 hours). If the animal is a feline or other, you will transport the animal only in an approved carrier.*
  • You agree that the Animal will be properly restrained while in a moving vehicle, preferably using either a secured crate or seat harness when transported in any vehicle. Adoptee should never be transported in the back of an open vehicle or pick-up truck. Adoptee should not be allowed to ride with his/her head outside the window of a moving vehicle.*
  • You agree to make an immediate and serious effort to find the Animal if it becomes lost, such as (a) filing lost reports with the local police, animal control authorities, animal shelters, SPCAs and local veterinarians and pet stores, (b) post lost Animal signs (c) place lost Animal ads in your local paper (d) contact us for additional support and advice. Furthermore, Adopter understands that if the loss was the result of negligence or failure to comply with the covenants of this Agreement, Fur and Tails Animal Rescue reserves the right not to return the Animal and to place adoptee into a new home*
  • You agree that you will not euthanize the Animal except in the case of the Animal’s terminal illness or injury, or old age accompanied by pain and suffering and in that case, the euthanasia must be performed by a licensed veterinarian.*
  • You understand and agree that Fur and Tails Animal Rescue reserves the right to reclaim the Animal if any of the above conditions are not met to the satisfaction of the Rescue. You further understand and agree that any expenses incurred by Fur and Tails Animal Rescue in exercising its rights under this provision will be paid by Adopter in addition to any liquidated damages required by other provisions of this Agreement..*
  • Fur and Tails Animal Rescue makes no warranty as to the temperament or physical condition of the Animal. The Adoptee is being adopted "as is". Financial responsiblity begins when the animal is transferred to your custody.*
  • You Agree that all warranties with regard to the Animal, including any implied warranty of merchant-ability and fitness for a particular purpose, where they are applicable, are hereby specifically disclaimed*
  • Adopter hereby releases Fur and Tails Animal Rescue from any and all liability for personal injury, property damage, legal fees, veterinary care, or any other expense or liability incurred by Adopter as a result of this adoption. Adopter agrees to indemnify Fur and Tails Animal Rescue from any and all such claims and to pay, without limitation, any costs related to such injury, damage, or liability, including, in the case of litigation, any attorney fees incurred by Fur and Tails Animal Rescue in its defense*
  • In the event that you do not comply with the terms of this Agreement, or the Animal is abused or neglected, we hold the right to recover the Animal from you upon demand, and the Animal will be surrendered to us immediately. In addition, without waiving any of our rights under this Agreement, if you do not surrender the Animal to us or comply with this contract you will owe up to $2,500, agreed between us as just and reasonable liquidated damages to compensate us for our costs and expenses in connection with your breach of this Agreement and we reserve our rights to reacquire the Animal.*
  • You agree that if at any time in the future you cannot continue to provide proper care for the Animal, you will not abandon, give or sell the Animal to another person, company, organization, medical research, pound or animal shelter. You agree to do one or more of the following: A. Obtain approval from Fur and Tail Animal Rescue to transfer the ownership of the Animal to a friend or relative. Rescue must approve the new adopter who will be required to sign an agreement similar to this one. B. Agree to cover the costs to board Adoptee for an agreed-upon time, allowing Rescue to actively seek a new home and then relinquish the Animal to Rescue when a home is found. Note: Boarding costs are approximately $75.00 per day. C. Return Adoptee to Rescue IF SPACE ALLOWS.*
  • You Agree that adopting an animal is a lifetime commitment. If you decide to not keep the Animal, Adopter hereby agrees to return the Animal to Fur and Tails Animal Rescue. Importantly, You agree to give ten working days to secure a kennel, foster or location for the animal and you will provide safe and loving care of the Animal until it is returned. Adopter agrees to safely transport the Animal to the determined kennel or veterinarian facility and will return any/all paperwork and supplies provided to you from Fur and Tails Animal Rescue. At times, the rescue may be full and returning an animal cannot be accommodated. In that situation, you will act as a foster, until a suitable home can be found.*
  • To assist us in continuing our rescue work, Adopter agrees to make a non-refundable donation/adoption fee. Actual amount will be determined. We do not distinguish between adult, babies, or breed or mixes. This donation is immediately used to pay the ongoing costs of rescuing stray and shelter animals, food, veterinary care, kenneling costs, behavior training, and etc.*
