Withdrawing from a course = Grades of “W” (withdrawal) are not used in calculating the GPA or semester hours attempted but will count toward financial aid eligibility. Must be done in person at the Records Office and prior to the pre-determined withdrawal deadline, typically around week 12 of every semester
Minimum Standards for All Financial Aid Students - This includes all grants, some scholarships, loans, ALL work study programs
All students receiving financial aid (whether or not they have received financial aid in the past) must make Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) toward the completion of course requirements in an approved certificate or degree program. The Financial Aid Office will consider students to be making satisfactory academic progress if they meet all of the following criteria:
Completion Rate Requirement
Students must complete 67% of all attempted credits each fall and spring semester. In addition, students must maintain an overall completion rate of 67% of all semesters attended.
For example: Enrolled in 12 credit hours (ENG101 – 3, MTH220 – 3, PSY170 – 3, HST142 - 3). At the end of the semester you earn three B letter grades and one F or W letter grade. You successfully completed 75% of your credit hours. If you earn two B letter grades and two F or W letter grades, your completion rate is 50%.
- Attempted credits hours include: classes with a grade of ‘D’ or higher, withdrawn courses, failures and incompletes.
- Remedial and repeated courses are counted toward credit hour completion.
- Audits and proficiency tests and non-credit courses are not included in attempted credits.
- Even if classes are not eligible for financial aid they are included in financial aid hours attempted and GPA. For example: NAD 101 (Certified Nursing Assistant) classes are not covered by financial aid but are included in financial aid hours attempted and GPA.
