    Acts: Empowered for the Mission, Part 1

    Text: Acts 1:1-11

    Main Idea: From heaven, Jesus continues to work out His salvation mission on the earth through the Church by the power of the Holy Spirit until He comes again.

  • 1.The Plan: The Church is going to be Christ’s    to the entire world. (v. 1-3, 8b)

    • The works & teaching of Jesus      that He was the Messiah & His resurrection & ascension proved that redemption was complete.
    • Just as the Apostles were chosen & commissioned to be witnesses of Christ & His redeeming work,      are also to called to be His witnesses. (v. 8, 2 Cor 5:18-21)

    2.The Power: The Holy Spirit is going to      the Church for the mission. (v. 4-8)

    • Every believer will be      with the Holy Spirit. (1 Cor 12:13, Mt 3:11)
    • We must not get      with issues that are not for us to know.

    3.The Promise: Jesus is      again when the mission is over! (v. 9-11)

    • The      of Jesus confirms the destiny of the risen Christ, affirms the presence of a man in heaven & inaugurates the High Priestly ministry of Jesus.
    • Jesus will come back      , in a glorified visible body, to a particular place on the mount of Olives. (Zech 14:4, Rev 22:12, 1 Thess 4:16, Mt 24:44)
