This facility uses Anhydrous Ammonia as a refrigerant. Anhydrous Ammonia has a strong odor, the same as Ammonia cleaners. If exposed to high concentration it can cause chemical burn, freeze burn, serious injury and even death.
Our facility has an alarm system designed to notify everyone when there is an ammonia release. Our personnel are trained to recognize an ammonia release problem.
If you smell ammonia, please notify the Dispatch office immediately and evacuate to appropriate staging area.
When you evacuate, proceed to the evacuation Staging Area as shown on the map. You must note the wind direction to determine the path. Evacuate at right angle, away from the problem (never cross from a downwind location) to the Staging Area.
Stay in an Evacuation Assembly Area until you are accounted for.
