The idea for this new series of paintings has been conceived out of a desire to connect and explore the landscape in an entirely different way, through your eyes.
During uncertain times our stories become a link to our identity and our place in the world. Our memories more often than not remain an abstract bodiless construct within our subconscious.
My next body of work will aim to recreate these intangible memories from a third hand perspective and give them a space to breathe on their own in the form of a painting. A way of exploring the landscape through your eyes, wherever you may be in the world.
Is there a moment in the landscape that took your breath away?
A memory in nature that taps you on the shoulder time and time again?
Perhaps there is a secret place you you have claimed as your own, or a story you were told as a child that still has you believing in magic?
This is an opportunity to share your story and have it take on a life of it's own.
Why TERRARIUM, you may be asking yourself:
Terrarium, comes from the Latin terra (“earth”) + arium (a place or receptacle).
These miniature ecosystems are a perfect metaphor for the creative process. Explorers would use them as a way of transporting plants from one location to another and even with the limitations, these minature landscapes would find a way to take over and have a life of their own.
I look forward to hearing your story!
