  • About virtual field trips

    For the fall 2020 semester, we are unable to host traditional school field trips. However, we have an innovative new solution that allows us to stream the planetarium to YOU, using the same Nightshade NG planetarium software that we use in our facility. The virtual planetarium field trip is a 30-45 minute presentation, hosted live by one of our trained planetarium educators who is able to guide you through the lesson and interact with you and your students just as if you were visiting us in person. The cost for the virtual field trip is a single flat fee of $25 for a 30-45 minute lesson for a maximum of 50 participants (either joining us from their classroom, or from multiple locations such as students doing at-home learning or home school).   • Requirements for virtual field trips

    Some institutions have restrictions on the type of video conference/streaming platforms they are allowed to use. Currently, virtual field trips will require the use of Zoom to stream the lesson. Participants in the virtual field trip will need a stable internet connection and access to at least one computer or device that is capable of streaming both video and audio on the Zoom platform. For those who are unable to use the Zoom platform or who would prefer to not have a live-interactive field trip, we have the option to create a pre-recorded video tailored to your class or event needs.

    Reservations require at least two weeks notice. We will do our best to meet your requested date, but a request does not guarantee a date. After submitting your request, you will be contacted by our scheduling coordinator to confirm a date and time for your virtual field trip. *If dates are grayed out on the calendar, they are no longer available for reservation request.

  • Pricing

    The cost of the virtual field trip program is $25 for one 30-45 minute long program (either livestream or pre-recorded). Payment is processed through our website. After confirmation, you will receive a direct link to the payment website. Payment is due 24 hours prior to the confirmed program time. Failure to provide timely payment will result in the cancellation or rescheduling of your program, pending availability.
