WHAT IS SHIM ART NETWORK?

SHIM Art Network is an arts exhibition services company that fills the gaps in the art world, providing essential digital and analog infrastructure and resources to artists, curators, galleries, universities, and other organizations through our Exhibitor Groups. Via membership in a SHIM Exhibitor Group, artists can access durable and sustainable online visibility via SHIM’s platform on Artsy.net and invitations from their Exhibitor Group to show their work in analog exhibitions hosted by SHIM in partnership with galleries, pop-up spaces, and art fairs around the world.

WHAT IS A SHIM EXHIBITOR GROUP?

SHIM is a network of Exhibitor Groups, each led by a Group Connector in charge of organizing and facilitating the group’s activities, and each with its own membership of artists represented by the group according to its stated mission and goals. SHIM’s Exhibitor Groups come in all shapes and sizes and are built for a variety of reasons; an independent curator or existing artist collective might build a group to represent a small, curated group of artists, a commercial or non-profit gallery director might build one to represent and expand their own gallery roster and exhibition opportunities, or an individual or organization might build one to promote and represent a wider constituency or category or artists dedicated to a specific medium, geography, or demographic/ identity.

Every artist who joins the SHIM Art Network becomes a member of one of our Exhibitor Groups, either via open application or direct invitation/referral, or by applying to be a Group Connector and building a new Exhibitor Group from scratch. Through SHIM’s network, our groups and their individual members are able to collaborate, build community, and share resources and infrastructure for their projects that they would otherwise be unable to access by themselves, as well as an ability to fully capitalize on their work; by building our model on standard membership fees rather than sales commissions, 100% of every sale made through SHIM’s gallery exhibitions, art fair presentations, and online platforms goes directly to the artist and the Group Connector in charge.

WHAT ARE THE STANDARD BENEFITS OF SHIM EXHIBITOR GROUP MEMBERSHIP?

SHIM Exhibitor Group Annual Member Artists all receive the same standard core benefits from SHIM’s Standard Exhibitor Group model, which includes the management of the group’s annual cycle of online group exhibitions via SHIM’s platform via Artsy, the world’s largest and most sophisticated e-commerce platform and discovery engine for fine art, as well as the organization and promotion of analog exhibition opportunities offered to our Exhibitor Groups in partnership with pop-up spaces, galleries, and art fairs around the world.

CAN I PARTICIPATE IN SHIM ART NETWORK WITHOUT A PERMANENT ANNUAL PROGRAM?

Yes! Galleries, curators, or other organizations who may be interested in a trial exhibition or hosting of a stand-alone project on Artsy.net via SHIM Art Network without an annual network contract may inquire about purchasing data uploads and online exhibition pages under the terms outlined in the application below.

Essential Membership

$35 SHIM Annual Membership Fee per Member Artist, paid by the artist directly to SHIM, or collected and paid by the Group Connector. Each Member Artist is allowed 6 new artwork listings on Artsy and participation in 2 Annual Online Exhibitions featuring at least one of their artworks at six month intervals (3 new artworks uploaded 2 times per year). New members may join at any time on the calendar cycle of the group.

Basic Membership

$50 SHIM Annual Membership Fee per Member Artist, paid by the artist directly to SHIM, or collected and paid by the Group Connector. Each Member Artist is allowed 10 new artwork listings on Artsy and participation in 2 Annual Online Exhibitions featuring at least one of their artworks at six month intervals (5 new artworks uploaded 2 times per year). New members may join at any time on the calendar cycle of the group.

Professional Membership

$75 SHIM Annual Membership Fee per Member Artist, paid by the artist directly to SHIM, or collected and paid by the Group Connector. Each Member Artist is allowed 15 new artwork listings on Artsy and participation in 3 Online Exhibitions featuring at least one of their artworks at four month intervals (5 new artworks uploaded 3 times per year). New members may join at any time on the calendar cycle of the group.

Established galleries or curatorial projects who already represent a specific roster of artists and who are interested in greater control over the curation of their online exhibitions with SHIM can join SHIM Art Network via one of the following prepaid annual packages:

PREFERRED PACKAGE

$1500 per year with an annual and renewable contract.

- Rotating Active Roster of Artist Members, not to exceed 20 total artist participants per year.
- Annual Online Exhibition Calendar of 4 quarterly group exhibitions per year.
- Each Quarterly Group Exhibition may feature a maximum of 8 participating artists.
- Curation of each exhibition is at the sole discretion of the Group Connector, not to exceed 5 artworks per exhibiting artist per exhibition. (*Exceptions to this limit will be considered at SHIM’s discretion).
- $250 Solo exhibition listings, not to exceed 15 total artworks each, can be additionally purchased and scheduled, limited to 2 solo exhibition pages per artist per year, and limited to 6 solo exhibition pages per Exhibitor Group per year.
- Invitations to participate in analog exhibition opportunities within SHIM’s network of pop-up and gallery spaces and exchanges and art fair presentations.

PREMIUM PACKAGE

$3500 per year with an annual and renewable contract.

Includes all of the services in the Preferred Package as described above, plus:

- Rotating Active Roster of Artist Members, not to exceed 40 total artist participants per year.
- Annual Online Exhibition Calendar of up to 8 group exhibitions per year (~6 weeks in duration each).
- Each Group Exhibition may feature a maximum of 20 participating artists.
- Artwork inventories for all participating artists may be pre-loaded at beginning of contract, limited to an initial upload of 5 artworks per artist.

PREMIUM PLUS

Includes all of the services in the Premium Package as described above, plus:

- $750 per year per additional 10 artist participants per year.
- Each Group Exhibition may feature a maximum of 40 participating artists.

$250 one-time Exhibitor Fee
- Data entry and uploads to Artsy facilitated by SHIM
- Artworks will be published in an exhibition page on Artsy.net with a duration of 60-90 days per the exhibitor’s preference.
- At the conclusion of the exhibition’s 60-90 day term, the artworks may remain published and publicly visible on Artsy.net for 12 months, at the discretion of the exhibitor and the individual participating artists.

EXHIBITION PAGE ON ARTSY.NET FEATURING UP TO 40 ARTWORKS

$450 one-time Exhibitor Fee
- Data entry and uploads to Artsy facilitated by SHIM
- Artworks will be published in an exhibition page on Artsy.net with a duration of 60-90 days per the exhibitor’s preference.
- At the conclusion of the exhibition’s 60-90 day term, the artworks may remain published and publicly visible on Artsy.net for 12 months, at the discretion of the exhibitor and the individual participating artists.

$600 one-time Exhibitor Fee
- Data entry and uploads to Artsy facilitated by SHIM
- Artworks will be published in an exhibition page on Artsy.net with a duration of 60-90 days per the exhibitor’s preference.
- At the conclusion of the exhibition’s 60-90 day term, the artworks may remain published and publicly visible on Artsy.net for 12 months, at the discretion of the exhibitor and the individual participating artists.
