Advertising deer & exotics?
Effective November 19, 2012, LDAF has suspended the importation of the following captive Cervidae into Louisiana: Rocky Mountain elk, red deer, mule deer, black-tailed deer, white-tailed deer, and Sika deer.
Any person who keeps, breeds, raises, contains, harvests, kills, slaughters, buys, sells, trades, or transfers ownership of any farm-raised alternative livestock (deer and/or exotics) for commercial purposes shall obtain a farm-raising license from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry prior to engaging in such activity. For more information, contact the LDAF Office of Animal Health at 225-925-3980. The LDAF-issued permit number must be included for any ads submitted for farm-raised alternative livestock (deer and/or exotics).
