NAFSA Region XII 2025 Service Award Nomination Form

NAFSA Region XII is pleased to accept nominations for 2025 individual and organizational service awards. Nominations are reviewed by the Awards Selection Committee, comprised of Region XII leadership, and award recipients will be announced at the Region XII Regional Conference in Pasadena, CA. Application deadline: September 15, 2025

Please use this form to submit a nomination, using the prompts below. You may submit one nomination for one award, per form.

If you are part of multiple nominators who wish to nominatee the *same* individual for an award, each nominator should complete their own nomination form, with their own narrative responses to the prompt.

As you complete your nomination, be sure to include specific examples of the nominee's contributions according to the criteria for each award. Although there is no minimum length to the nomination narrative, typical response include a minimum of least 1-2 paragraphs in support of each prompt.

Criteria for Service in International Education Award

- Nominated by one or more NAFSA members

- Significant contributions to international education over a minimum period of 5 years

- Strong commitment to NAFSA's mission

How has your nominee demonstrated significant overall contributions to Region XII, NAFSA, or the field of international education? Please include examples, if known.*

Criteria for Outstanding Service to International Education Award

- Nominated by one or more NAFSA members

- Nominee cannot be on the Region XII Executive Team (Chair, Past Chair, Chair Elect, Treasurer, Communications Coordinator, Conference Chair)

- Nominee must have been a NAFSA member for a minimum of 5 years

- Contributions to Region XII must be documented in at least 3 different areas of international education

How has your nominee demonstrated significant overall contributions to Region XII, NAFSA, or the field of international education? Please include examples, if possible.*

Criteria for Ron Moffatt Award

Minimum 10 years involvement with international education. NAFSA membership is preferred, but not required.
Demonstrates commitment to international education and social justice in the following areas:
- Consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty to personally support and promote success in international students, international education colleagues, or international education.
- Exemplifies dedication to social justice in his/her daily life.
- Has a strong Region XII connection either through Regional leadership, work in the Region, or through programs that are related to Regional interests.

Criteria for Region XII Rising Star Young Leader Award

- Has served in their present area of expertise/specialization no more than 5 years

- Shows passion and has made significant contributions to their department, unit, institution, organization, to the NAFSA community and/or to the field of international education

- Has engaged in activities such as:

Organizing or leading an activity or range of activities or services within their organization that promotes international education
Demonstrating innovation in their area of specialization
Presenting at conferences and/or engaging in publications of their work
Contributing to international education as a volunteer leader, etc.
Showing promise in making further contributions to the field of international education as a leader

- NAFSA membership preferred, but not required; may preclude awarding at National Level if awardee is not NAFSA member.
