  • For Fall, we have several different options for 4-H participants to choose from, depending on your child(ren)'s ages and interests.

    • Take & Make Projects  (Age requirements vary by project) These are complete learning activity kits that you can pick up each month at the Extension Center. Participants will meet via Zoom on the specified day and time to complete their projects together. ( NOTE: if you do not have home internet access, please contact us and we will work out alternative instructions )
    • Mealtime with Helen  (Ages 9 & up) This program will meet by Zoom once per month from October to December. Parental supervision is required for participation because students will be preparing recipes in real-time in their own kitchen under Mrs. Helen's leadership.
    • Graphic Design Basics (Ages 12 & up) Students will meet each Thursday via Zoom at 4pm during the program period. Youth interested in art and visual communication will learn about balance, alignment, fonts, and color and will use a free graphic design platform to complete independent practice assignments.
    • Cool Cloverbuds Club (Ages 5-8)  Katelyn is looking forward to catching up with her Cloverbuds! Join her on Zoom on the 4th Tuesday of each month from September through December. Sessions will include storytelling and an activity and will last 20-30 minutes.
    • Etiquette for Kids (Ages 8-13) With Thanksgiving just around the corner, let's sharpen our etiquette with this one-time Zoom session. You'll be sure to impress company with your new-found skills.

Registration for each program listed above will be on the following pages. Please note the age requirements, dates of sessions, and Zoom times prior to registering.

  • Take and Make Projects

  • 4-H is all about hands-on learning. So, just because we can't meet in person right now, that doesn't mean that our focus has changed. We're simply adapting our format! For the Polk County 4-H Fall Semester we are offering eight (8) different Make-and-Take kits. You choose the kit(s) your 4-Her will want to work on below, and each month, you'll drop by the Extension office to pick up the ones you've indicated. Then, all the students who have chosen their specific kit will meet together at the specified time on Zoom (using a link we will send you) to complete their projects together.

  • Mealtime with Helen

    Ages 9 & up - Meets via Zoom at 3:30pm on 10/23, 11/20 and 12/11
  • Bring your computer or smart phone right into the kitchen with you for this Zoom session. Participants will meet together for three different sessions from 3:30-5pm. An ingredient list will be provided ahead of time so that parents and students can follow along with Mrs. Helen to prepare that month's recipe.

NOTE: Parental supervision is required for all sessions.

    Session focus will be:

    • October 23 - Let's prepare supper together! As the weather starts to cool down, we'll make a pot of chili for your evening meal.
    • November 20 - Prepare a new twist on chicken pot pie or a great way to use up leftover turkey.
    • December 11 - We will learn how to make stuffed pasta shells. This can be served immediately or even frozen to use on another day.

  • Graphic Design Basics

Ages 12 & up - Meets via Zoom at 4pm on Thursdays from 9/17-10/22
