Project Budget
The artist fee is $10,000. This is an all inclusive fee to be used for paint, uv protection and rental of equipment for the installation of the mural.
Project Site
The selected project site is the exterior wall facing Upper and wrapping to Mechanic Street on the New Vista building located at 201 Mechanic Street. The wall is currently painted brick and is in suitable condition for a mural to be painted directly onto the surface.
There will be a site visit with interested artists to view the building on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 11 am.
Theme
The theme of the mural should be positive, encouraging, and oriented towards recovery. It should align with the core values of New Vista, Central Kentucky’s community mental health center that provides mental health services, substance use treatment services, and intellectual and developmental disability services. New Vista’s tagline is “We see the good ahead.” You can read about New Vista’s history and mission here:

Submissions
Artists may submit up to 3 preliminary design proposals for the Mural and must provide examples of past work, using this online form. A small scale painting will be commissioned for $500 from each of 3 artists selected as finalists. These paintings will be used to identify one finalist for the $10,000 mural commission. The commissioned paintings will become the property of New Vista and may be auctioned to help raise funds for the mural. Artists will retain copyright to the works they create.
