to learn about the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC)
The Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee sets forth guidelines for the preparation and reception of the sacraments. What we believe shows forth in the way we celebrate sacraments, especially in those of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist and in Reconciliation.

Children normally do not begin sacramental preparation unless there is regular attendance and participation in the Sunday Mass. That is first and foremost in the practice of our faith. At St. Paul Catholic Church our faith formation program, especially in sacramental preparation, focuses on building the domestic church, “Children’s preparation…begins in the home. The family has the most important role in communicating the Christian and human values that format the foundation for a child’s understanding of the Eucharist”. (NDC-126)

By registering your child for sacramental preparation for First Holy Communion and Reconciliation you are committing to follow the guidelines set forth by the diocese and this parish.

IMPORTANT: If you are NOT registered at St. Paul and you are seeking sacramental preparation please know that Sacraments are normally received in the parish in which your family attends weekly Sunday worship. If you wish for your child to receive their sacraments at Saint Paul instead of your home parish, please contact Director of Sacramental Education Debbie Ridder to discuss options.

*This also applies to children that attend Saint Paul School but do not attend Mass at Saint Paul Church.*
In order to receive the sacrament, the diocese requires a recent (within 6 months of receiving the sacrament) certified baptismal certificate from the church of baptism. If you would like me to request this for you please provide below: date of baptism, church of baptism, city and state.
