    All our free langauge courses are delivered once a week over 10 weeks. Our courses are taught from 6-8 pm New Zealand standard time, unless otherwise advised. 

    All our courses are offered online, via online ZOOM video conferencing. 

    (Our Samoan Oratory coures is the only course that is physically taught face to face at our office in Manukau).

    Any person who wishes to join a PEC class MUST ENROL via this form. Even if you are sharing a ZOOM account and joining the class from one shared device, ALL STUDENTS MUST ENROL.  

    If you are enrolling in more than one course, you will need to complete separate forms for each course (one enrolment form per course).

  • ONLINE COURSES

    You are enrolling onto a course that is taught online (except for the face to face Samoan Oratory class at Manukau). This means that you will get your student course materials from the PEC Polyelearning website, and will join your class weekly, online with your tutor and class members using ZOOM. You will need your own device and good WIFI to successfully join in these classes. You will receive your login details for the Polyelearning site one week before your course begins.

  • PHOTO AND VIDEO STUDENT CONSENT

    Permission to allow the Pasifika Education Centre to use photos/videos of you in PEC's electronic media and streaming media.
  • Terms of Use

    Pasifika Education Centre is funded to provide Pasifika language course materials online, to increase access for learners of Pasifika languages primarily across Aotearoa NZ.

    Language course materials include:

    (1) electronic media (digital photos, digital audio, and digital videography); and

    (2) streaming media (eg live streaming, live chat rooms, live webinars, etc).

    This means that PEC staff may from time to time take digital pictures, digital video, or digital audio with the express intent of sharing it on their online learner platform, or social media channels (eg Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Vimeo, YouTube Channel etc.).

    Your consent to use the digital materials is requested as part of your enrolment onto our online and face to face programmes.

    You have the right to decline to give consent, and in such a case PEC would edit your face or physical features out of view in photos/videos that will be used by PEC if you were in a desired shot, as explained above.

  • PERSONAL INFORMATION PRIVACY ACT 1993

    Pasifika Education Centre (PEC) observes the principles governing the release of personal information as set out in the Privacy Act 1993 ("the Act"). 

    Personal information is defined in the Act as "information about an identifiable individual"; it may include, but is not limited to, information such as your name, age, image, postal and email addresses, telephone numbers, IRD, course of study, bank account and credit card details.

    PEC's primary purpose in the collection and storage of your personal information as a student is to provide you with the course of study for which you are enrolled, and to comply with various legislative reporting requirements under the Education Act 1989 and other legislation relating to maintenance of official records and accountability for public funding.  PEC may also collect and use your personal information for other purposes related to your course of study including corresponding with you for academic and administrative matters and sending you information about PEC's other services that may be of interest to you. 

    Personal information collected on this form and at other times during and relating to your enrolment at PEC may be disclosed to PEC academic and administrative staff where relevant to their duties, to other educational institutions for the purpose of verifying and maintaining academic records, and to Government agencies or other authorities as permitted or required by law. 

    Government agencies that may be supplied with data collected from your enrolment include:

    the Ministry of Education - responsible for the NZ Education system
    the New Zealand Qualifications Authority - who oversee our Private Training Establishment registration and NZQA course approvals
    the Ministry for Pacific Peoples - our Funder

    When required by law, PEC supply information releases information to government agencies such as the New Zealand Police, Department of Justice, Ministry of Social Development and the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).

    You have the right to request access to, and (if necessary) correction of, your personal information held by PEC.

    • I understand that failure to disclose required information or the supply of incorrect information may result in my enrolment not being processed, or in my enrolment being cancelled.

    • I acknowledge that PEC may refuse to permit or may cancel my enrolment on any of the grounds as set out in the PEC Student Handbook.  This includes, but is not limited to:  a criminal conviction; or a history of breaching PEC rules and guidelines); have been guilty of misconduct or a breach of discipline
