DESCRIPTION: This is an instructional class for exhibitors wanting to learn the skills of breed handling. What will be covered: show lead mechanics (such as how to "Walk the Lead," proper collar placement, and how to 'steer' your dog for weight shifts), hand stacking, free stacking, gait patterns (down-and-back and triangle; junior handlers can learn "L" and "T" patterns), and ring etiquette.
TIMES AND LOCATION: Classes will be held on Saturdays from 10am to 11am from September 12 through October 24 at the Ridge Road Park, 287 Ridge Road, Hartsdale, NY 10530, Area/Lot #1. Classes will run weather permitting. Cancelled classes will be rescheduled if possible. Maximum class attendance is 10 handlers per time slot.
COST: These are drop-in classes. Pay when you arrive. Checks are made out to PCOTC in the amount of $20.00.
SAFETY PROTOCOLS: All handlers must wear a mask, keep a 6 feet distance from other handling teams, and are advised to sanitize their hands as needed. Handlers will be asked to show their dogs teeth. The instructor will be wearing a mask and sanitize her hands after examination of each dog. Preparation for class: dogs water bowls and water for dog and handler, show lead, bait (soft treats), handlers to wear closed backed shoes.
REGISTRATION PROCESS: You must complete and submit this form separately for each class that you wish to attend. For example, if you wish to sign up for 3 Saturdays, you will submit 3 forms - 1 for each Saturday.
After filing out this form, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a Drop-In form, and a Waiver and Release Form. Plese fill them out and email them back to the instructor.
If you need to cancel, please contact Fran within 48 hours of your scheduled class, or as soon as ossible, so she can contact people who are on the waitlist.
If a date you wish to register for is full, please email the instructor to be placed on a waitlist for that date.
