St. Didacus Catholic Church

In order to have your child baptized at St. Didacus, parents must fulfill the following requirements:

Registration: Parents must be registered parishioners of St. Didacus for at least 3 months. If you live outside the Parish boundaries you must be practicing your faith and be registered here for at least at least 3 months prior to the date of baptism.

--Checklist:

1. A copy of the child(s) Birth Certificate must be turned into the parish office.

2. Registration in Parish.

3. Letter of Permission from Godparents not registered in the parish.

4. Parents and sponsors (godparents) of the child to be baptized at St. Didacus Parsh are required to attend a Baptismal Preparation Class.
**Classes are offered to families baptizing their child at St. Didacus Parish or registered parishoners (3 month minimum registration period)**

 

Please ensure ALL forms and documents are submitted & received. We will move forward with the Baptism after the family has completed the steps above.

Sponsors:

A Sponsor (Godparent) must:

(a) be at least 16-years-old

(b) received the sacraments of Communion and Confirmation

(c) must be of good moral character, living a life of faith.

One sponsor, male or female, is sufficient, but there may be two, one of each sex (Ref. Canon Law #873-874, "Sponsors").

If from another parish, the individual will need to provide a letter from their parish stating that the sponsor is in good standing at that parish. If married, they must be married in the church. The Letter of Permission is available on our website or is available in our office.

Please note the following requirements:

Is the Godparent:

1. Baptized and Confirmed Catholic

2. Regularly attend Sunday Mass

3. If married, has been so in the Catholic Church

If “No” please reconsider selection.

* If your Godparents are registered in another parish, they/you will need to complete a “Letter of Permission” form on our website and return the completed form to our office.
