    NOTE: Due to COVID-19 modifications, some programs may or may not be available for the 2020-21 school year.  However, please identify ALL opportunities for which you are interested.

  • Below are basic descriptions of volunteer positions, committees, and events. All times given are estimates to help you decide if a volunteer job is right for you; some jobs may require more or less time than listed. For further information regarding volunteer positions, contact the volunteer coordinator, Raquel Hardy, at volunteers@meadowcreekpta.org.

     

    GENERAL

    Beautification (2hr/month): Enhance our school campus with plants, flowers, etc.

    Bulletin Boards (2hr/month or season): Design and put up creative seasonal bulletin boards.

    Crossing Guard (2hr/per month): Assist students and parents in safely crossing the driveways to enter and exit school grounds.

    Hospitality (1-2hr/event): Provide food and goodies for teacher luncheons and other events (Dessert Extravaganza and Teacher Appreciation week)

    Legislative (1hr/month): Inform the PTA of any current and pending education-related legislation and issues at the local, state, and national levels.

    Library Services: (flexible) Assist the librarian with student checkout, shelving, events (book fairs, Bluebonnet parties), processing new materials (can be done from home), and STEM carts and clubs.

    PTA Membership (1hr/month): Help recruit members for the PTA and be an integral part of the membership campaign.

    Room Representatives (1-2 hr/month): Room Reps assists the classroom teachers throughout the year, including planning parties, distributing PTA information to parents, and decorating doors. Room Reps must be PTA members.

    School Supplies: Work with the school supplies vendor to track orders and distribute supplies.

    Spirit Wear (1 hr/month): Oversee the design and sales of spirit wear apparel and other items.

    Workroom Support (flexible/as needed): Assist with copying, die cutting, and other tasks in the workroom.

    Yearbook Committee (flexible): Take pictures, create the yearbook, and assist with sales and distribution.

     

    HELP FROM HOME

    Administrative Duties (flexible/as needed): Emailing or calling volunteers, creating event flyers or letters, etc.

    Trim Laminated Items (flexible): Take home laminated items from the workroom and trim.

    Soliciting Donations & Sponsorships (flexible): Contact local businesses to secure donations/sponsorships for events.

     

    CURRICULUM & ENRICHMENT

    Classroom Help (as needed): Provide in-classroom assistance in your child’s classroom.

    Arts Projects (as needed): Plan or assist with arts projects and events.

    STEM Projects (as needed): Plan or assist with STEM projects and events.

     

    ONGOING PROGRAMS

    Adopt-A-School (flexible): Find and promote beneficial relationships between Meadow Creek and local businesses.

    All Pro Dads (3hr/quarterly): Plan or assist in planning of the All Pro Dads meetings to support our students and staff.

    Box Tops/Label Program (2hr/month): Coordinate or assist with counting and sorting of labels collected for education funds for MCE.

    Dolphin Depot (1-2hr/week): Assist in supervising the selling of school supplies to students in the Dolphin Depot store.

    Family Engagement (flexible): Assist in organizing events for families (Boohoo Yahoo Breakfast, National Night Out, Grandparents Lunch) Help support activities that educate on social concerns, child development, parenting skills, etc.

    Fundraising (flexible): Assist in finding creative and unique ways of raising funds for MCE.

    HEB Clothes Closet (3hr/semester): Organize a clothing drive 2x a year; sort and deliver clothing to the HEB Clothes Closet.

    Popcorn (3hr/6 weeks): Pop or purchase, bag, and distribute popcorn to students on report card day.

    Special Populations (flexible): Set up workshops and parent training tailored to the needs of families and educators of children with disabilities.

    Student/Teacher Recognition (2hr/month): Recognize student and teacher birthdays throughout the school year.

     

    SPECIAL EVENTS (All special events are flexible in how much time they require; you do as much or as little as you prefer!)

    Fall Festival: Assist with planning, preparing, and running of the fall festival.

    Silent Auction: Solicit donations from local businesses and/or help create baskets.

    Red Ribbon Week: Work with the school counselor to organize Red Ribbon week activities.

    Reflections: Promote and support the PTA Reflections contest. Reflections is a student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home.

    Reindeer Store: Help run the Reindeer holiday store. Assist students with shopping and checkout.

    Apex Fun Run: Help decorate the school in preparation for Apex and support students as they run on the run day.

    Book Swap: Collect and sort donated books for the district wide Book Swap in the spring.

    Teacher Appreciation: Assist the hospitality committee with honoring the teachers and staff at MCE.

    Field Day: Provide assistance where needed on Field Day in the spring.

    Grade Level Fundraising: These teams are responsible for arranging and staffing fundraising events for their individual grade levels.
