  • REALTOR® Emeritus Status

  • All applications must be submitted to the local Association by March 15 or September 15 of each year.

    A REALTOR® member who has held membership in the National Association as a REALTOR® for a cumulative period of forty (40) years and has completed at least one (1) year of service* at the National Association level, shall upon certification by the NAR Board of Directors be designated "REALTOR® EMERITUS."

    *"Service" is defined as serving as an officer, director, committee member, federal political coordinator, President’s liaison or regional coordinator to a country with which NAR holds a reciprocal agreement. Serving as an Association/Board President on the local or state level also fulfills this requirement.

  • For all Emeritus applications filed in 2020 and beyond, one (1) year of service at the national association level is required for eligibility. NAR's committee application is available online beginning in March, the committee selection process is conducted June - September, and all appointment notifications are emailed to committee members in October for the upcoming year.   • A completed application is necessary to begin the approval process for REALTOR® Emeritus status, which must be submitted to NAR by the candidate's local association. Documentation substantiating the candidate's forty (40) years of membership (and one (1) year of service with NAR) must be attached to the application. All applications will be reviewed for approval by the National Association of REALTORS® at the mid-year meeting or NAR's Annual Conference.

    Upon approval, REALTOR® Emeritus members will receive a congratulatory letter, certificate, and 40-year REALTOR® Emeritus lapel pin. REALTOR® Emeritus members receive a waiver of National (NAR) and State (GAR) membership dues and are exempt from the Code of Ethics Training Requirement. Emeritus members with the Greater Rome Board of REALTORS® are still responsible for paying the local dues annually. Please note that the dues waiver does not take effect until the dues year immediately following the Board of Directors' approval.
