The City of Canning offers funding to support our local residents to set up Play Street activities that increase social participation and promote social inclusion. We recognize that community funding creates an excellent opportunity to collaborate in building stronger connections within our community.
A $500 Eftpos voucher may be available for each individual Play Street through this funding category.

Guidelines and Criteria Considerations for funding:

Play Streets must not go over the maximum recommended attendance of 100 people

Play Street Events should be offered free of charge

Applications must be supported by all required documents to successfully run a play street:
1. Traffic Management Plan
2. Public Liability Insurance
3. Order for a Road Closure signed by City and WA Police
4. Neighbourhood Consent Form
The following will not be considered for funding:

Groups and organisations that operate with the aim of making a profit

Events which take place outside City of Canning boundaries

Operational salaries
-
Religious organisations where the grant is intended for the principal benefit of the organisation’s own members or adherents, or where the grant is intended for inherently religious activities

Legal expenses

Retrospective funding
Key Dates
You can submit your application for Play Street Funding until June 2021, or until the funding sources are exhausted
Initial street approval must be granted by the City 8 weeks prior to Play Street date.
Applications should be submitted a minimum of 4 weeks before your Play Street is due to commence.
