God's Work, Our Hands - Care for Creation Commitment Form
Being stewards of God’s Creation is the first command given to humanity after being made in God’s image. We invite you to pray about how you can be better caretakers of what God has given us as a gift.
A reading from Genesis
Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth…God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. (Genesis 1:26-28, 31)

Prayer for Creation
O Great Architect of Creation, We give you thanks for the indescribable beauty and diversity of the world around us. Help us to remember that we are only one part of all that you have made -- plants, animals, minerals, elements -- from the microscopic to the immense. Yet you have made us partners with you and caretakers of it all. We commit ourselves to be good stewards of Creation. Empower us by your Holy Spirit to fulfill the promises to reduce our impact on the environment, so that this gift may thrive and bless future generations. Through the Redeemer of all things, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
