Valkyrie Elite Yorkies Application

This application will help us to make sure you (and your family) get a puppy that is not just adorable but also a good fit.

We know many adults have jobs and we don't expect anyone to be a super hero and quit a day job just to be able to take home a puppy. Every puppy family has different needs, and this information form helps us identify who needs what and what home is best for each puppy/dog in question. If you're a veteran yorkie owner, we don't want to waste your time regaling things you already know; by the same token, if this is your first puppy or first yorkie, we want to make sure you are prepared for life with a new puppy.

Please discuss this with your family before completing this application. We recommend that everyone in the household be involved in the decision and application process. This ensures that everyone is on the same page. If you are buying a puppy as a gift for someone NOT in your home the person who will be owning the dog must be the one to apply. No exceptions.

If you are purchasing a puppy as a gift for a minor outside your home (niece, nephew, freinds kid...) The custodial parent or guardian of the minor must be the one to apply. No "surprise" puppies outside of the home of the applicant. No exceptions.

Puppies Love to explore and can quickly get into trouble. Do you have a safe place for the puppy to stay while you are not home? (referring to short trips like dr. appointments or grocery store runs) Please explain:*

We litter train all of our puppies using a playpen setup. This is ideal to have at home as it provides a safe place for the puppy, while allowing he/she access to food/water and a designated potty area. Are you willing to purchase a playpen for the puppy to stay in when you are to busy to supervise him/her, or when you are not home?*

Ownership Commitment
Our puppies are usually able to go home between 9-12 weeks of age. Will you be able to make arrangements to pick up the puppy within 30 minutes of Maiden NC or would you need to have he /she delivered?*

Yorkies require grooming approx. every 6-8 weeks, and it can cost $60+ each time if you are not comfortable grooming yourself. If you do groom, the supplies can cost $$$. Lack of grooming can cause serious skin problems and seriously damage your yorkies hair. Are you comfortable with this necessary commitment and expense?*

How will you handle any whining or barking overnight? This may not happen but it's very possible in the first few weeks as the puppy settles in. *
Yorkies are an amazing breed. They are big personalities in small packages who were bred for hunting rodents. Many people don't realize that even though they're classified as a toy breed now, they were once working dogs. Those instincts and drive have been bred into them for decades and should be considered when deciding if they are the breed for you. Are you familiar with the common breed characteristics and behaviors? *

Part of our responsibility as breeders is to ensure our puppies go to great homes and never end up in a shelter or a home where they are unwanted. We understand that life happens and sometimes (rarely) a family may not be able to care for a yorkie purchased from us. We usually have prescreened families ready to adopt older yorkies. Do you agree to return the puppy/dog in the case that you need to re-home this puppy for whatever reason, no matter the age?*

What to expect
Completing this application is a step in the process to acquiring a puppy from Valkyrie Elite Yorkies, but it does not guarantee a puppy from current or any future litter. While it's unlikely, the breeder reserves the right to refuse any placement at any time.

APPROVAL AND DOWN PAYMENT: I try to review applications within 2 business days of receipt. Applications are processed in the order they are received. If your home is a good fit, I'll notify you as soon as the waitlist is open or we have available puppies.We usually have babies available avery 4-6 months, so we will only take down payments when we actually have puppies. The non refundable downpayment is $500. The down payment is used as a holding fee for your puppy and is applied to your total. Once you make this commitment we reserve your picking spot in a specific litter or a specific puppy if theure old enough. Down payments are transferrable but not refundable unless we cancel the sale.

If we don't have puppies or you aren't interested in current pups, we can add you to the waitlist for a $25 processing fee. This non-refundable processing fee secures your spot on the waitlist until you get your puppy or for up to 2 years.

YOUR PICK OF PUPPY: Puppies will be picked in order of down payment after puppies are 7 weeks of age. Once notified you will have 24 hours to make your choice, during this time you may choose to call me to discuss temperaments or schedule a video chat for assistance in choosing the right puppy. If a choice is not made you may transfer your down payment to another litter, either current or future. Down payments may be transferred no more than 3x, at which point the downpayment is foreited. (this has never happened, but must be said)

GOING HOME: All puppies go home with registration, vet records, 30 days free health insurance, Hypoglycemia info, microchip, food, blanket, puppy pads, and assorted toys and treats. I try to make sure every puppy leaves with all they will need for the next few days. Those travelling long distances may request a "cleanup kit" free of charge.

We cannot hold puppies for extended times without prior agreement. It is critical for their social development that the litter departs within a reasonable timeframe. If you have a big vacation planned or have events that would conflict with a young puppy, please know puppies cannot be boarded in a kennel until they have received their full immunizations and their rabies vaccination which cannot be done until 4 months of age.

CONTRACT: We have a contract and will not place a puppy without a signed contract. We believe it's the professional thing to do to memorialize our obligations to each other on paper so there are no questions later, and for that reason it's a bit lengthy. If you have questions about specific terms of the agreement, you need to contact us prior to picking up your puppy. It is very important that you keep your commintments to this legally binding agreement, as they are in place for the safety and well being of our puppies.

SPAY/NEUTER: I am of the mindset that if I screen my potential buyers properly, I will not have to worry about our dogs recieving the best care. Unfortunately the dangers of pediatric spay and neuter are not common knowledge yet, as reasearch has only just started to surface. For this reason we require that our dogs be 1 year of age before spay or neuter is performed. Vasectomy or tubal ligation can be done any time after 6 months as this leaves the hormone production intact.

REGISTRATION PAPERS: Our excellent yorkies do come with registration papers. We do not guarantee or imply the reproductive abilty of any of our yorkies. We strongly discourage anyone from breeding without an experienced mentor. Not all yorkies are breeding quality (even with champion lines). There are too many poorly bred dogs in the world today and we do not want to contribute to that. If breeding interests you please be honest about your possible intentions with our puppies and feel free to ask questions. I would much rather educate someone than turn them away. I will also be able to help choose the best candidates for a breeding program. If I suspect someone is not truthful about thier intentions, the sale will be cancelled. I do NOT sell to dishonest people.

We do sell select puppies to approved breeders with the agreement that health testing will be completed prior to breeding. We can complete genetic screening on a puppy being purchased for breeding at the buyers cost.
