Uses: 1) Issue to new Installer pre-build for informational purposes. 2) Production leadership to use to inspect first 3 builds and provide feedback prior to completing Certification. 3) Random End Product QC Inspections.

FLOOR
Frame to be exact dimension of building
Joist Spacing – 24" on center, or as requested on Work Order
Fasteners per Joist = 2 fasteners on Steel and 3 on PT Wood
Steel = ¾" hex head self-tappers
PT Wood = 3" Galvanized ring shank nails
Leveling
Blocks spaced at 4' along rim
Blocks spaced at 8' along joists – minimum one support per joist
Only Full blocks at parameter - half blocks acceptable inside foundation
Shims cut flush with perimeter
Frame to be exact dimension of building
Joist Spacing – 24" on center, or as requested on Work Order
Fasteners per Joist = 2 fasteners on Steel and 3 on PT Wood
Steel = ¾" hex head self-tappers
PT Wood = 3" Galvanized ring shank nails
STANDING WALLS
Ensure wall is snug to floor perimeter (do not nail around exterior perimeter)
Fasten walls to floor with 3" hex head self-tappers
32" o.c. and must penetrate floor frame
2 screws on each side of door openings
Fasten walls to one another from the exterior siding
Ensure interior wall plates are tight
6" o.c. nail spacing or per engineered plans
Separate Gables may be provided
Ensure Zbar flashing is installed between gable & wall
Ensure that siding grooves are aligned & framing is tight
Framing fasteners required at 16" o.c. or per engineered plans
Siding fasteners required at 6" o.c. or per engineered plans
All missed nails (shiners) required to be cut flush from interior
RAFTER AND TRUSS
Rafter & Truss Spacing – 24" o.c. or as requested on Work Order
Rafter spacing required to be measured from interior of siding
Heal (ranch styles) or Toe (barn styles) required to be flush with Framing
***Exception – TB600 required to be flush with exterior of siding
Do NOT spread rafters to align into position – plumb walls instead
Place imperfections (knots, wane, stamps, etc.) away from the door
Rafters & Trusses are required to be toe nailed to top plate with 3" framing nails
Use QTY 2 nails on each face of rafter/truss or per engineered plans
ROOF SHEETING
Sheathing is required to be installed Silver side down or Stamp side down on OSB
Sheathing is required to be started from interior of siding
***Exception – when optional gable eave is purchased
Seams required to be staggered
Rips required to be installed below full sheets (except when too small to fasten at eave)
Sheathing required to be tight along ridge and hip lines – maximum 1/4” gap allowed
Use same nails as wall siding or per engineered plans
Nails required to be placed at 6” at seams & 12” in field or per engineered plans
All missed nails (shiners) required to be clipped flush from interior
DRIP EDGE, FELT AND SHINGLES
Drip Edge
Tight to trim, Overlap facing away from door, No piece less than 12"
Bend at Peaks & Corners
Uphill piece to overlap along rakes
Fasten with roofing nails at 16" o.c.
Felt
Felt over drip edge applied from gutter eave up
Shingles
Starter strip at eaves
Proper books per manufacturers instruction (on shingle bag)
Flush with drip edge around perimeter
6 roofing nails per shingle – 1 nail top edge of rake shingles
Ridge Cap
Install with overlap direction with wind when possible
4 roofing nails per cap
2nd Coat of Paint & Touch Up
Full second coat required on all siding, trim and interior/exterior door surfaces
Caulk any over penetrated nails & gaps
Ensure that no paint is applied on:
Floor framing, Door hardware, Wall openings, Windows, Vents etc.
Exposed caulking above horizontal trim to be touched up
TRIM / EAVE BOXES
Trim
No gaps more than 1/8” – caulk all gaps
All vertical trim should be flush with the bottom of siding
Trim installed with coil nails at a 8” staggered pattern – all nails flush with face of trim
Caulk the top of all horizontal trim
All exposed nails (shiners) required to be clipped flush from interior
Eave Boxes
Fasten all eaves from top of roof sheathing
If eave backer present – fasten to wall framing as well
Tight to siding and roof sheathing
No Gaps more than 1/8” – caulk all gaps
TRIM / EAVE BOXES
Bottom plate cut and removed from door opening
Sill nosing installed prior to hanging door
Door to be spaced ¾” above sill nosing
Install door handle (inside & out) prior to hanging door
Handle facing down
Handle should spring back to neutral position
Place door so that latch is 1/8” away from jamb
Install striker plate so that door has ¼” play when closed
Door surround trim to be installed with 3/8” reveal
Tuff Shed Serial Tag to be installed centered on top surround trim
Use White pan head screws
Double Doors
Install stationary door first
Spring bolts installed on the stationary door with Logo’s facing correct direction
Drill floor hole with provided bit
For all door fastening – use 2 ¼” Tuff Shed hinge screw
