    Text: Acts 2:37-41

    Main Idea: Salvation comes when the Holy Spirit sovereignly works bringing a sinner to repentance and faith in Christ, resulting in the blessings of forgiveness, the indwelling Spirit, & addition to the Church!

  • 1.     How is salvation      out in us? (v. 37)

    • The Holy Spirit sovereignly uses the Word of God to    hearts of sin &      minds concerning Jesus making the sinner who was once dead now alive spiritually (Regeneration)! (Jn 16:8)
    • The Lord sovereignly      . (Acts 2:21, 39, Rom 8:30)


    2.     What is      for salvation? (v. 38a)

    •        : A forsaking of sin & turning in faith to a total commitment to Jesus Christ. (Mt 4:17, Acts 3:19, 5:31, 8:22, 11:18)
    •    or trust in Jesus as Lord & Savior. (Acts 10:34-43)
    • Public: A willingness to      with Christ!


    NOTE: Baptism is      required for salvation (baptismal regeneration)!

    Analogy of Scripture: No passage when correctly interpreted will teach something contradictory to the rest of Scripture. Scripture everywhere teaches that salvation is by faith in Christ      . (Rom 3:21-30, 4:5, 10:9-10, Gal 2:16, Jn 3:16, 1 Cor 1:14-17, Act 10:34-48)

    3.     What are the      of salvation? (v. 38b-41)

    •    of sins is promised for both Jews & Gentiles (far off). (v. 39, Eph 2:11-13)
    • The      of the Holy Spirit is promised.
    • Salvation from this      generation is promised.
    • Addition to the      is promised.
