Image Rights Request
Image reproductions of the Denver Art Museum’s collections may be licensed for scholarly, commercial, or personal uses. Requests must be submitted via our Image Request Form. Please complete the application as thoroughly as possible. If you are unsure of the objects details, a portion of our collection can be accessed on our online collection or you can contact imagerights@denverartmuseum.org. If you are uncertain about specific object(s) from the collection and your request requires research work, it will take longer to process your request and to supply you with a reproduction.

All requests are reviewed on an individual basis by relevant curatorial departments and fees may apply.

The average turnaround time for each image request is 4-6 weeks from the date we receive the image request form, however, images are not provided to the requestor until payment has been received and processed. If you are notified that new photography is required it may take longer to fill your request.

Should you have any questions on our Rights and Reproductions Fee Schedule, please contact imagerights@denverartmuseum.org. Please be aware that the Denver Art Museum will charge a $200 Rush Order Fee for any request that needs to be fulfilled inside of 2 weeks. These are taken on a case-by-case basis and not all Rush Order requests may be accommodated.

Copyright scope to keep in mind:

While the Denver Art Museum owns the physical objects and can make available the reproductions of them via an image license agreement, the Museum does not assume copyright. Additional proprietary rights issues involved in the publication and reproduction of items on this website or provided by the Denver Art Museum may further restrict use of the reproductions. The Denver Art Museum’s rights and reproductions fees do not include any third-party licensing charges from the copyright owner or administrator (artist, representing gallery, foundation, estate, etc.). While the Rights and Reproductions Department will assist the applicant with contact information, it is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain permission from the copyright owner or administrator before copying, transmitting, or making other use of protected items beyond that allowed by “Fair Use” as described in the United States Copyright Act (Title 17, USC).
