  • ATTENDANCE/PRODUCTIVITY POLICY:

  • 1. Adhering to the attendance policy is mandatory. Students are required to maintain a minimum of six hours of attendance for ISP courses and may be dropped after two consecutive weeks of missing the 6 hour minimum.  It is required that students reach out to contact their instructor if they are going to have difficulty reaching the 6 hours a week.  Students enrolled in online courses or hybrid courses must maintain a minimum of 85% attendance and may be dropped after two consecutive absences. Enrollment verifcications will be provided only to those students that have 2 weeks of continuous positive attendance in their core subject classes.  Attendance earned in the Introduction class is excluded from the enrollment verification qualifications. 

    2. Post Testing students must post test after 40 hours of classwork.  This is an open testing schedule that a student may set up at their convenience; the Career Services Specialist will reach out to students to schedule these tests.  If a student does not complete the post test in a timely manner, the Edgenuity account will be locked until a post test has been taken.  All HiSet students must post test after they have completed their fourth of five tests. 

  • CLASS PROCEDURES AND CONDUCT:

  • 1. Students are expected to arrive to class on time and remain in the classroom for the entire class period.

    2. Clothing, jewelry and personal items (backpack, fanny packs, gym bags, water bottles, etc shall be free of any images or writing which may be interpreted as crude, sexually suggestive, advertise or promote a drug, alcohol or tobacco product or which may advocate a racial or religious prejudice or implies gang affiliation. Clothing must be modest when sitting or standing and adequately cover undergarments at all times.

    3. Students are expected to maintain a level of respect for everyone while in the classroom and therefore inappropriate language/behavior is not tolerated.

    4. Cell phones may be used to listen to music, but should not be used for any other purpose in class. IPods, IPads, Laptops and other electronic devices from home are not allowed to be used in the classroom. The teacher will provide classroom computers and laptops to be made available for use by students during class time when appropriate.

    5. Beverages such as water and juice are allowed as long as they come in containers with lids and are stored away from the computers. No food or gum is allowed in the classroom.

    6. Smoking or possession of tobacco products, drugs, alcohol and weapons are prohibited at any time in Sutter Co. Supt. Of Schools-owned or leased buildings, on Sutter Co. Supt. of Schools property, and in Sutter Co. Supt. of Schools vehicles. Possession and or use of these items/products may result in disciplinary action and may include suspension or expulsion from the program.

    7. Harassment in any instance will not be tolerated. If any student believes that he/she is being harassed, that student should notify the classroom teacher in writing before the end of that class period so that it may be addressed.

    8. Students are required to bring their own class supplies with them. This includes a notebook, pens and pencils.

    9. Instructions for assignments are given to students at the time when they are provided their book assignment. A student who displays unethical behavior and/or is involved in any other activity for the purpose of cheating, altering, removing or copying any materials shall receive a letter grade of “F” for that assignment or exam and may also be suspended or dropped from the Sutter Co. Adult Education Program.

    10. Visitors including all children, family and friends are not allowed in the classroom during class sessions.

    11. Students are responsible to maintain a clean and safe work space.

  • 12. We want to celebrate our students’ success by taking photographs and sharing them through social media and marketing materials. Therefore, you will need to indicate if you do not want to be photographed when relevant.

    I have read and understand the rules and regulations described above, and hereby agree to abide by them.

  • DRESS CODE

  • 1. Clothing, jewelry, and personal items (backpacks, fanny packs, gym bags, water bottles, etc.) shall be free of writing, pictures or any other insignia which are crude, vulgar, profane or sexually suggestive, which bear drug, alcohol or tobacco company advertising, promotions and likenesses, or which advocate racial, ethnic or religious prejudice.

    2. Clothes shall be modest, both standing and sitting, and adequately cover      undergarments at all times.

    a.No sheer, strapless, backless, or low cut tops.  All tops must cover     undergarments.

    b.No bare midriffs

    c.Excessively short shorts, dresses, skirts, or blouses are not permitted

    d.No “sagging” pants which allow for the exposure of undergarments or bare skin 

    3. Dress code violations will be at the discretion of the school staff who will use their best judgment to determine appropriate/inappropriate attire.

    4. Corrective actions will be taken if the adult education staff determines that a student is in violation of dress standards.

  • DISTANCE LEARNING CONTRACT

  • Students must agree to the following in order to participate in the distance learning program:

    A minimum of six (6) hours of satisfactory productive work is required each week and will be documented by the student on the Weekly Learning Log.
    The Weekly Learning Log will be turned in to the teacher each Friday by noon.
    The student will meet weekly with the teacher either by phone or through Zoom.
    Appointments with the teacher must be kept.  Failure to keep appointments will result in withdrawal from this program.  Notice of cancellation or rescheduling of appointment time must be made prior to two (2) hours before the scheduled appointment.
    The student will complete all CASAS assessments, including pre- and post-tests.
    The student will return all loaned items (textbooks, calculators, rulers, etc.) at the completion of the program or at the request of the teacher.
    By signing this contract, the student is verifying that the coursework submitted to the teacher is the student’s own work and in the student’s own words.  The student will not copy and paste information from other sources.
    By signing this contract, you agree to follow all program rules and policies, as outlined above.

  • HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE: CONSUMPTION OF MARIJUANA

  • 9.08.120 Places where consumption of marijuana is prohibited.

    1. Notwithstanding California Health and Safety Code Section 11362.5 or any preceding provisions of this Chapter 8.80 of this code, the consumption of marijuana, by or through “smoking,” as defined in Section 8.80.030 of this code, is prohibited at any of the following locations to which members of the public have access:

    a. Upon or within one thousand (1,000) feet of the grounds of any school or park; b. In or within one hundred (100) feet of any building of facility to which members of the public have access, except In a health facility or clinic; or c. Within on hundred (100) feet of any other person, other than a “primary caregiver,” as that term is defined in California Health and Safety Code Section 11362.5(e

    2. As used in this section, the following definitions shall apply:

  • a. “School” means any institution of learning for minors, whether public or private, including any special institution of education, children’s center or any nursery, elementary, middle, junior high, or senior high school. b. “Park” means and includes all parkways, malls, plazas, greenbelts, gardens, lakes, and other property owned by the city and used, operated or maintained for recreational purposes. c. “Health facility” means a facility, place or building that is organized, maintained, and operated for the diagnosis, care, prevention, and treatment of human illness, physical and mental, including convalescence and rehabilitation, or for any one of those purposes, for one or more persons, to which the persons are admitted for a twenty-four (24) hour stay or longer. d. “Clinic” means an organized outpatient health facility which provides medical, surgical, dental, optometric, podiatric, or psychological advice, services, or treatment to patients who remain less than twenty-four (24) hours. (Ord.99-027 § 2; Ord. 99-001 § 1; prior code § 37.04.401)

    If you are seen or reported smoking, you will be dropped from your program/class effective immediately.

  • PROOF OF ENROLLMENT AND ATTENDANCE

  • Students are eligible for obtaining documentation verifying enrollment and attendance after participating in orientation and attending classes consistently for two weeks.

    Students are given a copy of the Registration form at Orientation that may be used to verify enrollment.

  • INTERNET ACCEPTABLE USE AGREEMENT

  • Sutter County Adult Education offers an internet network, accessible by students, teachers, and staff. Internet users will sign an “Internet Acceptable Use Agreement” prior to being given access to the internet on our site. Students under age 18 must have written parental permission before being given access.

    Internet Access: The system will be provided to students to assist them in supervised classroom and career development activities, and for high quality self-discovery activities

    I. ACCEPTABLE USE – All existing laws (federal and state) and SCSOS regulations and policies apply, including not only those laws and regulations that are specific to computers and networks, but also those that may apply generally to personal conduct. Sutter County Adult Education Internet Access, will be used in a responsible, efficient, ethical, and legal and must be in support of the educational objectives. Transmission of any material in violation of any federal or state regulation is prohibited. Unacceptable uses include, but are not limited to the following: A. Violating copyright laws B. Forwarding personal communications without the author’s prior consent C. Using threatening or obscene material D. Distributing material protected by trade secret E. Utilizing Internet for commercial purposes F. Providing political or campaign information

    II. ETIQUETTE RULES – Users must abide by network etiquette rules. These rules include, but are not limited to the following: A. Be polite; rudeness is never acceptable B. Use appropriate language; do not swear, use vulgarities, or other abusive or inappropriate language C. Do not reveal personal addresses or phone numbers D. Do not disrupt the use of the network E. Assume that all communication and information accessible via the network, is private property

    III. PRIVILEGES – The use of Sutter County Adult Education Internet is a privilege, not a right. Inappropriate use will result in limitation or cancellation of user privileges and possible disciplinary actions

    IV. SECURITY – Security on any computer system is a high priority, especially when the system involves many users. Attempts to tamper with or access the system as any other user or to share a password will result in cancellation of user privileges. Electronic mail is not guaranteed to be private; system operations have access to all mail. Messages relating to or in support of illegal activities may be reported to the authorities, and disciplinary action will follow. Users have no expectation of privacy with using the Sutter County Adult Education Internet. All information is subject to examination without notice.

    V. Vandalism – Vandalism will result in cancellation of user privileges and disciplinary action. Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm or destroy equipment and/or data of anyone connected to the Internet. This includes, but is not limited to uploading, creating, or transmitting computer viruses.

    VI. PERSONAL SOFTWARE – Installation of software other than that used by Sutter County Adult Education is prohibited.

    VII. Agreement – Students must sign the Acceptable Use policy below.
