    SAC Athlete Contract and Code of Conduct

    SAC swimmers are expected to do everything within their power to reach their own personal potential.
  • Athlete Code of Conduct

    The purpose of this code is to promote a safe, positive, and productive team environment at Sacramento Aquatics Club (“SAC”). All team members including swimmers are required to adhere to this code during team sponsored events including but not limited to practice, team meets, or other team gatherings.

    CODE RULES

    a.  I will display proper respect and sportsmanship toward coaches, official, administrators, teammates, fellow competitors and the public at all times.

    b.  I will be on time for practice, training sessions and meets.

    c.  As a matter of team pride, I will leave the team area in a neat & clean condition at the conclusion of each practice session. I understand this also applies to pool restrooms, pool decks, etc.

    d.  I will refrain from any illegal or inappropriate behavior that would detract from a positive image of the team or be detrimental to its performance objectives.   

    g.  I will promote positive team spirit & morale.

    h.  I will offer congratulations and encouragement to my opponents and exhibit good sportsmanship.

    i.   I will support my teammates at practice and at competition. I understand working together as a unit will benefit each team member and is an important part of SAC spirit.

    j.   I will follow directions of the coaching staff. I understand that a disrespectful attitude will not be tolerated.

    l. During competition, I understand that questions or concerns regarding decisions made by meet officials are to be directed to the Head Coach or Coach on deck. Only the coaching staff will address officials. 

    I understand that at no times will the following be accepted –

    •     Use or possession of any illegal substance (i.e. alcohol, drugs, tobacco).

    •     Destructive behavior.

    •     Inappropriate physical contact at team activities and events. 

    •     Inappropriate language.

    •     Inappropriate conversations that would violate the privacy and safety of another swimmer.

    •     Stealing or Vandalism.

    •     Bullying or isolating another swimmer. 

    •     Interference with the progress of another swimmer during practice or at any other time.

  • Parent Code of Conduct

    All parents are required to adhere to this code during team-sponsored events including but not limited to practice, team meets, or other team gatherings.

     b.  I will refrain from any illegal or inappropriate behavior that would detract from a positive image of the team or be detrimental to its performance objectives.

  • Swimmer Contract

    The following expectations and guidelines are set forth by SAC Parent Board & Coach Terry. Each swimmer and parent must sign and return this contract before joining practice.

    1. Attend a minimum of 60% of practices, per week. (3 days a week)
      Each and every practice is a necessary component for success as a swimmer. 
    2. Arrive to practice on time with a positive attitude.
    3. Train at or above a level appropriate for current experience and speed.
    4. Attend a minimum of 2 USA Sanctioned meets during the year. (1 in Fall, 1 in Summer)
      Meets are the best way to help our swimmers set goals and see improvements. Wear a team suit (navy in color) and cap to all swim meets. Team suits with logo can be purchased on our team store at SwimOutlet.com, you can also purchase a plain navy suit on Amazon, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Big Five, etc.
    5. Foster a healthy coach-athlete relationship.It is important for our swimmers to talk with the Coach if they are not understanding the changes he is asking them to make on their technique.
    6. Adhere to the SAC Athlete Code of Conduct.
    7. Set a personal goal. Keep a journal of these goals and share with Coach so he can help each swimmer achieve them.
  • Attributes and Characteristics of a Successful Swimmer

    (THESE ARE YOUR GOALS)

    1. Has 60-100% attendance at practice sessions

    2. Does not arrive late or leave early from practice

    3. Understands that each practice is a necessary component for success

    4. Incorporates both a team and individual approach to swimming

    5. Loves to Race

    6. Loves the sport and is committed to it

    7. Has an open mind and believes that anything and everything is possible

    8. Has confidence in themselves and in the work they have put in, as well in the obstacles and challenges they have overcome

    9. Enjoys challenges and difficult tasks, understands that these challenges build character and help the process of success in and out of the pool

    10. Always seeks to do more then what is asked, is not satisfied do the minimum

    11. Understands that confidence, not arrogance is a key factor in successful performances

    12. Gives honest self-assessment in practice and meets

    13. Takes responsibility for their actions in practice and meets

    14. Understands that the “Athlete” has the most influence on the outcome

    15. Comes to practice prepared with proper equipment - carries at all times spare suit, cap and goggles

    16. Stays hydrated throughout the day and brings water to practice

    17. Values nutrition by fueling their body with nutritious foods and limits unhealthy food choices

    18. Consults the coach concerning injury or illness

    19. Consistently offers the coach feedback on personal technique, training and meet performances

    20. Practices good self-talk during all practices and meets

    21. Understands that focusing on the solutions is far better than focusing on problems

    22. Holds themself to a high level of academic success and successfully balances school and swim

    23. Above all commits to doing everything within their power to reaching their goals and maximizing their own potential
