Shupe’s Sweet Southern Goldens - Puppy Application Form

Thank you for your interest in adopting a puppy from Shupe's Sweet Southern Goldens! The following application makes it possible for us to get to know our potential families in depth and to ensure that each of our puppies are placed with the perfect family to fit their lifestyle. This sets both our families and our puppies up for a successful and happy future! 🖤

Please read all of the following carefully and complete each section of the form.

All of our breeding dogs are AKC Registered and have been genetically tested through Embark. We complete OFA/PennHIP on all of our breedings dogs, as well as OFA elbows, cardiac and eyes. Currently, we offer limited AKC registration only for our puppies. Full AKC (Breeding Rights) may be discussed and offered to select breeding programs at our discretion.

All of our puppies are raised inside our home and receive daily interaction from ourselves, our children and our other pets.

Beginning soon after birth - Day 3-16 - each puppy participates in Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) exercises. These exercises introduce mild stressors to the puppies at a young age and in a controlled environment. This has been proven to aid in stimulating the neurological system, which in turn improves growth and development of the pup's immune system, cardiovascular system and stress tolerance. Throughout the remaining weeks that your puppy is in our care, he/she will experience many different sounds, sights, smells, textures and of course, loads of love and cuddles to prepare for life outside of our home.

Our puppies are dewormed at 2,4,6, and 8 weeks of age. They will receive their first round of vaccinations and be seen by our veterinarian at 6 weeks of age. Every puppy from our program will go home with a care package to assist with the transition into his/her new environment. This will include veterinary paperwork, a blanket or Snuggle Puppy with mom and littermates' scent and several other samples and goodies! When it is time for your puppy to come home with you, he/she will have also been introduced to litter/potty training and early crate training concepts. These are both very important concepts that will be the foundation for your puppy's training journey. We offer lifetime breeder support to every Shupe's Sweet Southern Goldens family and consider them all part of our own. Staying in contact with our puppy families means the world to us!

We do our very best to post bi-weekly individual pictures and also other frequent video and photo updates on social media and through a private thread for each litter. We want our families to feel present in the entire process as they watch their new baby grow and change over the eight short weeks they are here with us, before being welcomed into their new home.

Puppy selections are made around 6-7 weeks of age and in the order of our waitlist/deposits. We take great pride in helping each family choose the right puppy for their goals/lifestyle. After puppies receive their first vaccinations and health check, we schedule "match day". This is hosted via FaceTime or video chat. Keep in mind that at this age, puppies are very vulnerable and susceptible to illness. For this reason, we do not allow families into our home for puppy selections. Although we understand some families prefer to meet/be matched with their puppy in person, we are ultimately going to make decisions with the health and wellness of the puppies being our constant focus. Do not worry, we share plenty of updates along the way to ensure that everyone is in the know before "match day" comes around!

Finally, we welcome our families to pick up their new baby at 8 weeks of age! We will schedule "Gotcha Day" accordingly. We do offer delivery to our families who need or prefer this option for an additional fee.

Our Adoption Fee is $2,750, $3,000 if purchased through Good Dog due to a fee charged by the company. (Price increase from $2,500/$2,750 through Good Dog will be in effect for litters born on or after January 1, 2027 unless a spot was already secured on the waitlist prior to this change). A non-refundable deposit of $350 is required to reserve a puppy. This includes a $100 fee to be added to our general waitlist and then the remaining $250 due within 48 hours of puppies arriving. Your puppy's AKC registration fee is also included in the total price. We handle this for our families, and have the official documents mailed/emailed to the address on file. *Deposits are not accepted until applications have been reviewed and approved.* We hold a general waitlist, and once a deposit has been placed, the family is then added to this list. As pairings are planned and litters are confirmed, we go down the general list in order of deposit. If a specific pairing or timeline is preferred this is noted on the list. Each family has the choice to proceed with the upcoming litter, or move to the next. We can give an estimate but we cannot guarantee timing as far as placement goes. As we all know, this is ultimately in Mother Nature's hands and nothing is set in stone in the world of breeding! The $100 waitlist deposit is non-refundable but it is always transferable! These measures are in place to ensure that each family is committed and so that we do not turn families away who would love to welcome a puppy into their home. We strive to keep things as fair as possible for our waitlist families, and this process works smoothly for everyone involved.

Once an application is received, we will contact families with more information about our expected litters and waitlists.
